Happy 4th to all!

we thought of you Americans and those that have served as we spent the evening on the beaches of Normandy. Humbling here on the coast, standing on the beaches of Normandy for the 4th of July… We will spend a few days here as we try to take in and comprehend what took place on this coastline. Amazing, emotional, and humbling. Lots of American flags flying around here...

After this visit we back track to Mont st. Michel for the Tour de France, then continue down the coast.

BMW, Optimum Moto in Caen, replaced the rear bearing again (much cheaper fix than final drive!). Last one lasted 11,000 miles… hmmm. The part number has changed by one number so it may be an upgraded one, otherwise no idea why it went out so soon. But all is smooth now!

HAPPY FOURTH AND KNOW THAT YOU ARE THOUGHT WELL OF ON THE NORMANDY COAST!

So much to take in...

American Cemetery: these families chose to have the soldiers buried in France - felt they deserved to be on the land they fought and died for (9,387):

The Nazi's held a strong position to control the beach:

Cold, seasick, nervous, wet, backpacks heavy with water, guns heavier, and having to run 500 yards to cover while German machine guns put out 1200 rounds a minute... many soldiers did not make it to shore as they were injured and died in the water.

That castle is spectacular. And the silent scream - what a hoot! Yep. I'm in Fargo ND via the Mighty Mac and da' UP, eh. Am on the way to HQ.

Love it! Gina relaxing with a Beer while you are slaving away at the Laundry. She knows how to keep you busy (just like my Wife). Glad to hear about all your travels as always.

One week 2 go!

We are counting down to getting home... You know how it is, looking forward to home but not ready to be done exploring... We are on the coast and will be winding our way back to Heidelberg by next Sunday. Still, one week to see some of the French countryside and drink the vins of the area!
