F650 rim n spoke upgrade costs/considerations

Here are a few questions, forgive me if they were asked before. I tried to search the thread but it's just too long.

ya gotta try the google approach ie www.advrider BMW f650 superlaced wheels ...or somethin gto that effect...all in fo pops up

1. Cost-wise, what would be the difference if I take the old wheel and spokes off myself and send in just the hubs?

none,,,we prefer getting the wheels complete,,,,that way we can measure offsets and dial everything perfectly....

2. I know I want 21" front and 18" rear. What are your thoughts in turns of the different rim width? (1.6'' vs 1.85'', 3.0 vs 2.5'', etc.) (stock Dakar wheel sizes are 21"x1.6" and 17"x3.0"). I really want the wheels setup more for off road, however I also do a lot of travelling on highways.

call Zach at the shop [i'm off in vermont]he has more specific info
regarding putting in an 18 rear,,,some bikes had clearance issues
toll free 1-866-936-0232

3. My current rear wheel has individual sealed spokes and runs tubeless tire. Because I had success doing this myself, I would like to make the same mods once I get the wheels back from you. Would the new setup take tubeless tires? (I only want to make the rear tubeless)

most of the rear rims will have a safety bead,,,do not NOT kid yourself into sealing rims without a safety bead,,,,currently there are no rims in 1.6 or 1.85 available with safety beads...

4. Based on what I described above, what is the rough estimate on cost and turn around time? (I want to send mine in when winter sets in around end of November)

circa $700-800 depending on color/ss or zartan nipples,,,several days to a week or two dependin gif we run out of something..not often...

Thanks in advance.
,,,woody

gs'n et al..

well i'm back and can handle this no sweat,,,,

while you are at it i highly recommend we bead blast the hubs and seal them,,,circa $35 ea

ss spokes are circa $100 /set
x-lace n true is $150 /wheel
prepping /dismantling $30-80/wheel
straightening $30-150/rim
anodizing $75-100/rim please note on these old Akront rims which weren't anodized,,,every nick can be seen,,,,we have polished these rims to the point that you'd swear they were chrome and after anodizing them the oxidation that oxzidation/corrosion that occurred at every nick get's detected in the anodizing process,,, we usually scotch brite them and remove all the nasty irregularities.. we'll discus what we'll do after seeing the rims....
S&H circa 15-20/wheel in continental usa

Heya Woody.
What am I looking at cost-wise for properly done up wheels for my 800GS. I'm thinking 1.85" (or 2"??) X 21" front and 3" X 17" for the rear. Black Excel with superlace. And fixing my rear hub for proper bearing crush while you're at it.
Thanks!

pal,,i'd be satisfied with that mileage on that beast...you are in the ballpark,,,i'd say 39-42 PSI is in the ballpark,,,,the lower figure for riding single the higher double and loaded...
