Dallas to Venice to Istanbul to Dallas

Yeah, this is Dick. I am going to do the same procedure (with improvements) on this ride from Venice, Italy to Istanbul, Turkey that I did on my South American ride. A day to day, blow-by-blow report with all the interest we can muster.

Stay tuned to follow the ride from Venice, Italy to Istanbul, Turkey with my wife and others from different parts of the world.

July 5, 2007
Boarding a flight to London with connection to Venice. Will arrive in Venice early in the morning where we will meet some friends from other parts of the world, board BMW R1200GS's and head north.
The trick here is to get helmets, riding gear, and all the stuff you need for a months ride through eastern Europe.
The overall ride will pass through many countries including Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey.

I hope you'll join us on this ride of a lifetime.

Dick Jacobs

Can't wait

I spent many hours with your last ride. Looking forward to vicariously taking the trip with you. Good luck.

Carbon Cat
Good question! Some friends of ours from New Zealand are shipping their bike to Venice.
But I've had a problem with that. Ordinarily I would ship my bike over - but a few will remember when I came back from South America I rode my '07 GSA to Tennessee and proceeded to ride off a cliff -totaled it!
I am taking care of that little problem when we get back from Europe.
We arrive back in Dallas on the 27th - fly to San Diego the 30th and pick up my new HP2 MegaMoto. Ride it back to Dallas with a detour to meet some friends somewhere on the Continental Divide Trail. Also going to stop in Phoenix and head to Al Jesse's place and have him install his trick HP2 windscreen.

Stay tuned...
