My Garage and tools are available in Indiana
I really like this idea. This is another example of us motorcyclist looking out for each other. The same reason I wave to other cyclist.
Here is what I have to offer: Good tool box full of tools including Machinist precision measuring tools. Digital Multi-Meter Doohickey tools are HERE. Motorcycle lift (Craftsman) Mityvac Air Compressor I am a Machinist by trade. Laptop computer for reference and music (check out www.rockabillyradio.com) Lots of lights in the garage. I only have a kerosene torpedo heater for heat during our too long winters. Clymer manual for my KLR 650 One lovable cat and one shy cat that you will hardly see! DVD "Dust To Glory" How many of you were trying to figure a way to enter the Baja 1000 after watching this documentary? Aurelio's Pizza is about 5 minutes from the house. One of the best pizzas around. http://www.aureliospizza.com/ I have owned 15 motorycles in my lifetime. Raced Motocross bck in the day 1973-1978 Even ice raced on Cedar Lake. I live in Northwest Indiana near Chicago. Regrettably not the Mecca of Off-Roading. I find it is a lot more enjoyable working with someone than working alone. I think this is a great forum and hope to meet other riders. Cheers! Kraftsman 73 Kraftsman 73 screwed with this post 10-23-2006 at 02:44 PM Reason: spelling and additional information |

Good idea. I have a lot of tools that are specifically for motos in general, but not so many for specific motos (except some large sockets). Some home-made. I think another thing would be for those with well-equipped shops (mine's coming along! I just need a decent pneumatic lift and a balancer/truing stand!) might be able to arrange to help one or two in their area that don't.
I like helping people, but I generally have two concerns. I kinda don't want a stranded moto at my house. I have a tight schedule these days and so time on my premises would need to be scheduled and close ended (a no-later-than departure time). I have helped people and once or twice run into these issues. I have ended up with a non-operational moto in my yard and I find that often, moto maintenance is *verrrrry* difficult for some folks to do on a schedule and if there are more than a couple of people, there often tends to be a lot more jibber-jabber than wrenching - which is great if you don't have some place to be... Once I find that lift (I am in AZ and I'm looking for a pneumatic lift at reasonable co$t, hint, hint!) and the balancing/truing stand, I will be fairly well equipped and happy to help others out. I have pretty much everything to do anything to a KLR and if I don't have something for my R11GS, then it's prolly time to get it! I also have carb tools, a digital RPM gauge, and a manual tire machine. I am by no means a moto wrenching expert, but I have been wrenching my motos for decades. As far as the pool, if I wrangle up some moto specialty tools that are for motos I no longer own, I will be happy to contribute them (although I may have already contributed them to other owners!)... |

I have a KLR doohickey wrench and flywheel puller to donate to the pool. They are ready to ship wherever needed next.
I also have a MIG welder and basic welding skills if anyone needs something small welded in the Fort Collins Colorado area. Just don't expect it to be too pretty. Structurally sound yes, pretty only if I'm lucky. |

roll around full of tools, mityvac, etc. in the middle of nowhere by the river in casinoland AR/MS blues country south of Mempho one hour. Will help, have no compressor. Have a friend within blocks who has one and can order tires in a rider club I sorta belong to.
Call or PM if needed. Near trans am trail crossing of big river. |

Huh? Can't believe I haven't found this before......... anywho.....
I'm happy to do what I've been doing already with the UTMC, ADVr and any other locals I know or get sent to me, which is basically what you've been doing as "use here" I've a fairly well set up garage..... two handy lifts manual tire changer & balancer most of the hand tools needed to do most jobs torque wrenchs Time-sert kit - 6,8,10mm 'cause poo happens. multi - meter power tools garage computer, fridge, music 12 ton press parts cleaner TIG welder generally have access to a MIG - thanks Beemer Pat Doohicky tools - loaned out on occasion already Air compressor Heat for the winters access to trailer limited experiance........ The way I've worked things for a while now has been pretty simple. Give me a little notice - unless it an emergency of course If you notice a tool that missing feel free to donate one Don't bring beer unless your going to drink it, hell drink some of the stuff others have brought since I won't - or bring non-alchohol stuff. Replenish any consumables that get used up if somethings low. Break it - replace it Ya know the basic play nice stuff Oh yeah - I'm right in Denver.......... I was a little busy last summer so our usual BBQ's and Tinker days didn't happen but I'm hoping to fix that for 07'

This is a great idea!
I've got several things I'd gladly ship out if needed: Twin Max Mighty Vac 1150 GS Manual 1100S Manual I've also got a shop in the middle of West Texas for repairs. I am located in Colorado City, Texas. I can throw a rock and hit I-20. I've got most hand tools and the space for almost any repair. |

Manual Tire Changer on the Central Coast
Howdy
Just noticed this thread and what a great idea. I'm about to throw some TKC's on a F650 that I picked up and am looking for someone with one of those nifty H/F tire changers in their garage in the Central Coast California area. Glag to bring beer of choice or $ for usage. Scumbag |
