I've got some tools in Alabama, but I doubt they could be borrowed to often(I don't live in Alabama often, you'd have to convince my parents you know me to use my toolbox, if it moves with me(big 5 foot tall cabinet) to wherever once I live somewhere anybody is welcome to it). I am a Wyotech graduate, trained in upholstery, welding(mig, tig, oxy, aluminum/steel, sheet/plate, tubing) regular maintenance and chassis/sheetmetal fabrication...and i'd be happy to help anybody I could with anything. Don't exactly know how that would all work out, but if you want a new seat cover or a rack and you can find me a machine/welder and buy me a beer....

I've got the following tools that I'm more than willing to use to help a brother out:

Wire-feed MIG welder, carbon steel or aluminum
TIG welder, carbon steel, aluminum, stainles, ???
Oxy Acytel torch for brazing, heating, cutting, etc
Plasma cutter for up to 1/4" steel/aluminum
Compressor
Assorted air tools
Tubing bender, 1/2" to 2" diameter (for crash bar or luggage rack manufacturing/repairs)
Big box of hand-tools including pullers, compression testers
Electrical re-work tools (multimeter, connectors, soldering iron, etc...)
Grinders, sanders, polishers, etc...

I'm in El Dorado County, Northern California. How do I help fellow riders?

Darin

I have a Twin Max balancer, too.

that is nice what you are doing

KLR 650 "doo" tools on the way to my workshop in Charleston, SC. Will be available for on-site use (at my house, or I ride to yours) upon arrival and reassembly of my engine.

Also, just bought a cycle/ATV lift and tire spoons. Same deal, 'cept you're gonna have to wait till I get the cage running again to borrow my lift :)

I have updated post number 2 (below) with the tools currently available.

Has anybody tried to get a tool sharing program going where overpriced specialty tools are donated to a pool and shipped around the country to those that need them next?

Is BMW the only manufacturer that loves to invent wacky
(and expensive) tools like this $78 f650GS steering head bearing socket?

Lone Rider took one out with my fuckin 1978 screwdriver and an old 2x4 man.

Hi Eran,
I've got KLR doohickey wrench and flywheel puller that I'm willing to ship, and a twinmax, but I'd rather lend that out locally face to face, because I'll need it back every 6000 miles.
If you have a wanted list - or tools we could all chip in on, I would like to get a GS-911 fault code reader. They are $199. Maybe enough people would be interested to get together and buy one for the tool pool?

LR folks-

here's the deal. I have a 685 KLR motor that needs to be reassembled. I understand I'll need the doo tools to assemble it.

I won't however, be able to use them for just a day or two. Probably need them for a week as I reassemble the motor.

Anyone willing to loan me the doo tools for 2 weeks at the outside? Of course I'll pay shipping.....
