This may sound weird...

I first read this Ride Report three years ago.
It lodged in my brain.

This past summer, I was fortunate enough to ride the TAT.

I want to thank you guys... for helping me make a dream come true.
You guys rock!

Thanks.

We dove in behind them for about 1 mile on the narrow road and I shot this from my hip while riding.
The 2nd best photo of the trip---the 1st is coming.

After the horse finally veered off--we finally rode into McDermott, Nevada.
But not before I ran out of gas again.

Thursday 6-15-06 Left McDermott, Nevada
Disaster peak was on our ride plan today.
But we had some great riding before it came into view.

Disaster Peak is on the left---it was in our view for hours as we rode completely around it and got good views from 3 sides.
This over 10,000 ft. peak was named after the first person to ascend it.
He broke his leg and named it "Disaster Peak"

GasPipe just motored up the middle of this without a thought.
The ruts are 2ft. deep--if you fell over you would surely break you leg.
I wallered thru the right mudhole like the old man that I am and then had to turn quickly left to keep from falling into that huge hole.

Ok---my best picture of the trip !!!
Take your time and soak it in.
One of the best pictures I have seen on this site, just step back a 100 years and take a look. Love your RR, planing my own TAT and you both have shared some great information.

Just finished reading the report. Thanks guys. Bigdog is one of the reasons I just bought a used '06 TE610. My buddies and I are planning the TAT this summer and this is the bike I've been wanting to do it on. Your report just solidified what I thought of Husqvarna already.

Why hasn't ADV riding swept the entire West?

As everyone has already stated, GREAT ride report GasPipe and BigDog! I know this comment is about 4 years late on the thread but...

I just kicked my crf450 to the curb in exchange for a cherry BRP and couldn't be happier. Seeing that you rode most of the TAT on yours (GasPipe) has inspired to say the least.

Not to hijack the thread but... have you ever done a buildup/gear thread for your long distance rides? Both the bikes used on your trip seem as similarly equipped as possible. My BRP (the War Pig) has got some nice add-ons but not the ADV gear yet.

A friend and I are planning a mini TAT route from NV to OR and back next summer and barring flat tires your bikes' durability is what has impressed me.

Anything you would have set up different? Anything you couldn't live without?

A great ride report is timeless!

You can start reading this and it is still great even years later!
