Correction, the Super Ten was available in Canada for one or two years. Sales flop. Same as the TDM which was the most reliable bike I've ever owned. 5 years of nothing but regular maintenance.
If the Super Ten used the same Mikunis as the early TDMs, don't bother with a Dyno jet kit. The jets are the same as early 90's Ducati 900s. Exhaust, air filter and a re jet gave mine some extra wheelie power. |

Super Tenere
This was a great bike i falled in love in one minute. This was the very first bike i purchase new, cash and without doing a test ride
.It was the only one in the dealer shop and i wanted it asap. I got it in 24hours. I had a great time with it. Here it is near my old 81 Honda 500CXC: ST XTZ750 05/89. ![]() and here have a off road trip in a burned landscape: ![]() BTW I am still using the same Bagster tank bag!

New Super Tenere In The Pipeline?
The odd rumour floating around about this.
Just rumours but it keeps this Super Tenere thread alive. Quote from XRV.org.uk http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/showthr...t=20303&page=7 "ok so thats the new tenere, what if i were to say yamaha are also looking at new Super Tenere too!!! its rumoured to have a new v-twin (possibly the one that was part of the tesseract proto idea, and plan'd to replace the outdated v star lump)" And from the UK Super Tenere forum (not sure if you can see without registering). Will post quotes http://supertenere.proboards20.com/i...ead=1196087649 "i was talking to a competitor to touratech who are apparently in conversations with yammie about kitting out the new twin tenere seems that yammie has been rattled by the GS1200 outselling the R1 and is going to do something about it.....FFS FINALLY! i just hope its the bullet proof amazingly efficient tdm900 engine they use (yes its EFI but its reliable) and not 2 450cc engines bolted together (which was the rumour going thru the yahoo xtz mail list)" "lol It wasnt me that let it slip (but have a look in the yammy snow mobil range you might just spot an interesting engine that would just fit in a shiny new tenere!...)" "you mean the 973cc triple? Hmm... yeah, that could do it. Prefer the traction of a twin though. " "nope apparently the yanks had a lightweight v-twin version for a while, its this engine that they are looking to play with for the new s10, rumour is its about 2-3 years away from production though so dont hold your breath waiting for it!!" |

Super Tenere? seriously???
![]() ![]() ![]() i first saw a Super Ten this past summer in Italy. it was all rusty and dirty and worn-out looking. it was the coolest thing on wheels i saw over there, sparked all kinds of daydreams. well, i won't be holding my breath, but 2-3 years away is great for me since i'm four years from finishing school.

I rode one of those diagonally across Germany from Berlin to Zurich in one day on the famed Autobahn. I love these bikes, I couldn't use my throttle hand with anything resembling dexterity for a few days after, and in my experience they get a lot floatier than Africa Twins at speed, but it's still a tough, powerful bike full of dirty sexy character.
If I had more cash I'd buy a low miler here in Spain and put it aside for a rainy day project. I have a massive soft for the old blue/yellow Tenere thumpers , I was just a little kid when those came out, sticking my face to the car window when they'd pass by thinking about how one day... |

I really do hope that whatever engine they put in the new S10 it has locknut adjusters for the valves. Shims are such a pain in the arse....I'd consider last year's TransAlp because of it.
