Newb rider non squid almost spilling - MTGMTT
MTGMTT = Most The Gear Most The Time
So I am coming in my usual roads, same sparse two lane country road, when In the middle of my turn I realize -too late- that I was smack in the middle of a car size oil spill. In the .7 seconds that I powerslided I also realized that there is SAND OVER THE FUCKING OIL SPILL. I cannot be wearing boots and riding pants and all the gear all the time to go to work and stuff, but in those .7 seconds plenty went to my mind. 1- I was slow turning on a oil slick, if going down do not fight the bike up or leg gets crushed. 2- Rolled the throttle down, and up, and down during my .7 second powerslide with one foot sliding along. I do not know if it helped but sure as shit that the bike yould be sliding from under me. 3- No death grip, good old habit from road cycling. No white knuckling is for better control. 4- I can say "fuck" four times in .7 seconds. 5- Things appear to be happening really slow when you are about to eat it. Most Gear = Helmet - Gloves - Leather Armored Jacket Always long pants, jeans if possible, soon to buy riding pants All Gear = All of the above plus either sturdy hiking boots or Oneal Dimension boots. - I like the oneals for the money End of Report On Close Calls |

Yeah ... more appropiate full gear is on the works in the budget department
Just spent 3k on summer classes ... but I have a good armored leather jacket - no pic yet - and a 3/4 helmet Nolan 102 is budgeted, my free honda leather racing pants are in the works of getting fitted too. Better gloves are also budgeted ... Thanks for the tough love, Mr Avatar thief ... I will heed. |
