so i guess idont get it. im kinda stupid. realy seriously, i am. people specifically the british and england supporters seem to hate david beckham. im not sure why. sure he fills your headlines and there was that Bend it Beckham movie, bit that isnt his fault. i dont even think he has that big of an ego, atleast not anymore. he certainly isnt the best player in the world, but heis probably the best on your team. he doesnt score the most, he doest run the fastest but he sees the game develop more than anyone ive seen play for your side in a long time. hes the balls on set pieces, and give great service into the box. he isnt the reason you lost the world cup, he isnt the reason your team sucked. that would be the coach and wayne rooney. you cant tell me a footballer like rooney didnt know he was going to step on the dudes twins. if he didnt know where his foot was then im the queen of england. it boils down to bitterness and jealousy for a guy that has it better than you do, and its his fault all his fault cause he has a great job, a hottish wife, and lots of fucking money.

so whats wrong with becks? really.

Not too much wrong with Beckham - at one point in his career and in certain aspects of the game he really was the best in the world. Not an all round best but a great player none the less. Part of what you're seeing is the passion of the game.

Everyone wants to know what went wrong and who is to blame - so expect there to be lots of analysis done in the press and in pubs around the UK for the next few years.

It will be the same in Brazil - I would imagine that in San Paulo at the moment the fans are asking WTF happened to Ronaldo and Ronaldhinio - they are also probably demanding the head of Perreria at this very moment.

Having said all that - a few of the criticisms aimed at Beckham were related to not resigning as captain prior to the WC (He instantly got selected since he was captain) and if memory serves me correctly asking for terms and conditions for representing his country. I'm sure there are other folks who have additional things to add.

Beckham set the stage for the hatred when he got sent off against Argentina, it was a stupid thing to do even if it didn't deserve a red card. Then he left England to play in Spain, another no no. Those things meant that as soon as his playing level dropped off the press was all over him. He isn't half the player he used to be, he can still cross the ball and obviously take a great free kick but that is all he has. The days when he used to run the game and be a leader have gone, he tamely wanders about the field waiting for dead ball situation most of the time. His time is up, he shouldn't play for England again. To say he is the best on the team is an absolute joke, Gerrard is much better though the moron Eriksson didn't let him play his game, he can completely take over a game when he is allowed free reign. It's a tough situation with Lamps and Gerrard, both great players but no room for both on the field, Lamps will probably have to sit having missed so many scoring chances in the WC.

Beckham WAS great but is not anymore. Since he was Sven's choice of captain, his name was always the first on the team sheet. That plus the fact that (as with soooooooooooooooo many celebs including it has to be said Diana) LOVE publicity when it suits them but not when it doesn't - sorry to say but you are either in the public eye or not. The Brit press loves this kind of shit as it sells papers and Beckham and his missus LOVE to be in the papers.

Put these 2 things together and hey presto, Beckham is slated (and not 100% unfairly in my opinion)
