There was some concern that we held West Fest a tad too early; although I think everyone got through the snowiest passes, even if by a day. Any thoughts on timing? I think if best to stay in the July to early August timeframe.
Timing was fine by me...I liked the site, but I like variety...what about holding the rally in Moab? and maybe some agility contests for around camp...you know like who can go the slowest, maybe some cones and something to climb over, like an old car or a dirt mound.

If it goes too much later in the summer, it's WAY too hot for most folks trying to get there. My 0.02

FatToney - great to meet you - you're one funny dood. See ya again sometime, prolly when I pass through the NWet

We rode the White Rim Trail (~115 miles, camp two nights) on bicycles the first week of Nevember a few years ago, 40*F at night and 65*F during the day, ZERO tourists, it was unbelievable.

And speaking of that Teton shot:

That's about 140 miles from my driveway. July 4th is typically the peak of tourist traffic through Jellystone, you hit it just right!

You've got the Iron Butt, then you've got people who ride KLR650's on trips like this, A WHOLE DIFFERENT CLASS! I can get about 200 in a day on my DR650 before I need physical therapy.

Next time you're through Wyoming give a holler (unless it's like 2:00 AM!).

Hey, I almost forgot, tell Surf Mama thanks for the excellent marital advice! She sounds like a keeper! (Her advice was to punt it all and go for a long ride, then when I'm done keep riding! ) It's working GREAT!

Nice report and great pics, Toney.

BTW, great job in the saddle. I'm impressed, 3200 miles on a KLR.

Not to toot my own horn or anything, not that I am a bragert or an attention whore or anything but did I delete the part about the home stretch 1300miles in 27 hours (yellowstone slowed me up)
