Will Garmin 60cs work with major roads in Europe?
Leave tomorrow AM for work in Europe. Have a bike to rent for several days following. Have never brought the Garmin 60CS previously, assuming it wouldn't offer much. What can I expect if I bring it? Are major roads of Europe included in the base map? Thanks much for any perspective.

Could be wrong, but for a NA model, I wouldn't think the base map would have any coverage of Europe whatsoever. Easy enough to find out: fire it up, zoom out and scroll on over there. But I bet you're going to be carrying an expensive paperweight and lat/long displayer.
Enjoy your trip. - Mark |

Thanks Mark... that is indeed the case. Didn't think about going outside to test. Despite the rain falling, did so, and nothing in Europe but jagged country lines. Now I know.

If you could buy a copy of Metroguide Europe off ebay, you'd get the map detail... no autorouting though...
And to buy a routable map, with unlock, would cost you quite a lot... Worth it though if you intend to drive around much... complicated place Europe... I use my GPS all the time... not when going to the shops, but if I even suspect that I'll extend my ride for fun, on it goes... Al... |
