This has been hands down the best bike I've ever ridden. I would love to keep riding it. I'll start looking around for a good Paramount restorer.
There's a few guys out there: Spectrum, Joe Bell, Holland or Hollands depending on what coast yer on (no S is the west coast), Toby at Hot Tubes, Zanconato, and many, many more.

Up to you how much ya wanna spend on it. You can go whole hog and get it better'n new, or you can prolly have someone do the minimum for lots less.

Dood, you're missing a forkleg.

That thing looks cool. Scary, but cool.

The only real way to check your fat vs muscle is caliper testing or immersion. Ask to talk to a exercise physiologist for either of these testng methods.

The rest of the things you are doing sound spot on. I'm in healthcare.

I keep telling myself that. Still need to reduce my girth. Working it. It is supposed to get hot this weekend. Just in time for me to leave town and head off into the wet and dark.

I got the LHT to tour with,It's price point was great it's heavy duty enough for touring with the exception of the CoMotion most are not. IMO I've got it adjusted about where I want. pretty compy so far, Now I've just got to put some miles on it.

I'm hoping that rack goes on sale at a reasonable price. The only comparable items I've seen are $90 Nitto racks.

I like how some are bemoaning the switch to canti brakes. Obviously, they're not looking past their own nose. Cantis offer so much more versatility in tire sizes and terrain.

Likewise, some are complaining of the curved fork. Curved forks ride so much better than straight legs. Again, the fear of not knowing.

I do, however, prefer the classic gold color of the previous bike. I think use that gold with vanilla panels or a metallic garnet with vanilla panels. It's gotta' be classy.

I like my Fargo, but for the way I'm using it, I'd probably be better off with a Vaya; Lots of linking dirt roads and smoother paths via asphalt, not much singletrack. I don't use most of its tire clearance (after playing around with a range of tire choices I've settled on 37mm slicks), and the position is much more upright than necessary for this kind of riding.

So I'm starting to think about a frame swap. My wallet is terrified that they're going to announce a Ti Vaya; But even if they do I'll probably just look for a 2010 steel frame on closeout. I love the idea of a Ti bike, but I'm not comfortable paying $2k for a non-custom frame that I've never ridden.

I dug my beater out of the garage and took some pictures. I've had it since new and it's all original, even the tires. I looked up the specs. but the ones listed on a third-party site don't really match my bike 100%. I think it's a '86 or '87 from the color though. The only thing wrong with it is that the shifter for the front derailer is busted. If I put some new tires on it and a shifter and I think it would be 100% again. Still want a new bike though.

This is funny! My first MTB was a Nashbar elevated chainstay frame with identical components! Bought as a closeout in the summer of '90, so probably an '89. After a year of getting into shape riding the local trails, the only original parts surviving were the frame, the front derailer and the handlebar. The cranks were warrantied, and I upgraded the pedals to clipless, but the rest died in use trying to keep up with some young bucks who had been riding for years. Replace both of the shifters - they were the first to break, and are a bit fragile IIRC. The rest should survive "path" use well, but if you start riding rough terrain things will die of metal fatique or overload. When the rear derailer breaks along the pre-scored line on the inner link it will take out the rear spokes.

those tires are *toast*. the chain too. the cables just on principle should be replaced.

you can juryrig the front derailleur to be in the middle gear, that will get you by til you fix the front shifter... but you sure its not just a busted cable? the end of that cable in the front derailleur closeup looks toast.

btw, I think Exage 400LX was a early 90s part group, rather than late 80s.
