At least we don't have snow.

Weight's still coming off, but slowly oh so slowly

I've been on a pretty solid program lately of spin classes/core strength sessions and now, finally, some actual serious riding. Last weekend's effort was 40 miles and 4200 feet of climbing.

I'm at 190, but would prefer to be at 175. I'm using my old Weight Watchers protocols in combination with insane amounts of exercise and figure I should get there. Bicycling magazine had an article about determining your ideal riding weight and I think I was right there in the 170s, so that's where I'm headed.

I'm starting to accumulate some serious leg muscles, so I'm sure that will have a bearing on the number on the scale, but the goal is to pedal around as little useless Kbasa as possible.

The Death Ride is in July, so I should be in pretty stellar condition by that time if I stay with it. I'm riding for Team in Training again, so I don't think I have much choice - this ride will be mine and all the gloating rights that go with it.

This week is going to be pretty average for where I am. Highs approaching 60 but lows in the mid 30s in the morning. Sucks because I won't ride the motorcycle to work (I freeze at those temps, my gear isn't good enough). But awesome in that I can head out to the MTB trail in the afternoon and work up a sweat. I have learned not to complain about the summers though and to just ride in the late evening, it is what it is. I went for a 6 mile MTB ride this past summer at 2 PM. I made it 3 miles and had already gone through my water. I took the shortcut back to the car. It was only 105 that day.

I have no illusions of getting down to racing weight again. but I'll be fine at 15 over that.
when I got out of HS I wore 28 waist and somehow had to by 36" inseams to get them to be long enough. Button fly shrink them yourself days. $4.95. That might have been a while ago.
I weighed almost 120 pounds if I hd a big belt buckle and a lot of change in my pocket.

My aero-belly is still with me.
Zero running or riding over the weekend. Instead I worked on the motorcycle, then rode it back to Phoenix. Cold for me. I have not been on a long ride in two years and haven't really been on the motorcycle for seven months other than two adventure coffee runs.

8 hours of riding in the cold and finally dark has me sore to the soles of me feet. Blisters are started on my throttle palm, and I ache all over. Who would have thought business travel by motorcycle would be such a workout?

I was curious as to my miles so far - and then compared the same period for last year.

Through Feb. 10th

2012..........545 miles
2013..........536 miles

At least I'm consistent. I'll add 125 miles on Saturday as part of our 200k brevet.

It was 35 after I got the computer fired up here at the plant this morning. Much colder feeling on the road. The frost on my cover was there after the ride in, and that cover was in the hot-side Jesse!

I thought this damned place was hot in the winter?

Somebody lied to me.

Tour of California stages were announced today. Maybe I'll finally get a chance to head out and watch one.

@Mr Head: suck it up buttercup!

Its gotten warm here today: low 50s. I went out with no jacket. Did 2hrs with 30min of Tempo in there. Its amazing how doing efforts 'resets' your body's reaction to JRA. The ride back from the end of the effort was LOTS easier than the ride to the start of the interval HR-wise.

Just came back from 2 hours of cross country skiing. Man, that is hard work! But wicked fun! Roads are too shitty to get out on a bike yet. Could get 6+ more inches of snow by sunday, and we'll do it again!!!
