? bout removing 17t c-sprocket.

there is a part that appears to block pulling out the sprocket. Located about 7 o'clock when looking at it. Does this need to be moved or will the sprocket squeeze by. Also, I assume that the bolt holding on the CS is a lefty loosen and not a counter thread. Also while asking all this...do ya know the size socket needed.
Jim
Did a quick search, but no luck...

Did mine the other night. Wound up removing the rear wheel to get enough chain slack to wiggle the 17t off, after unbolting the slave cylinder (at 7 'oclock). Took about an hour altogether. DONT LOSE THE PIN IN THE CLUTCH ROD!
Socket is the same size as the rear axle bolt.

thanks SEABASS

I just put on my 16t. Just went for a quick test rise and I LIKE. I should have taken your advice about removing the rear wheel. I tried just loosening the chain and figured that would not work. So off came the rear wheel and I was in business. A little tip I learned was when you use the KTM wrench, just stick it on the nut and spin the rear tire to loosen. It is too difficult to try to spin the wrench.
Thanks again everyone.

It's a good EZ mod. The front end gets real light when you hammer it now!

I just did mine tonight also. If you loosen the rear axle nut and remove the right chain adj block, you can tap the axle out just enough to spin the left adj block. That will give you enough slack in the chain to get the job done. For those that have not done this yet... there's a nyloc nut on the upper left bolt that retains the sprocket cover. Make sure you catch this when you remove the sprocket cover. A pair of channel lock pliers work well to crimp the flat washer to the sprocket nut when you are wrapping up.

I've had a 16T on order for about a month, and it still appears to be on B/O. Anyone know of a source other than KTM for one of these things?

Thanks!

That would be strange - the backorder, that is - my dealer in Columbus just ordered and got them in his usual order. Took about a week because he had sold them out already.

I know we're about 100 miles from the warehouse, but UPS goes everywhere, eh?

Try KTMTWINS.
