Ron Melton, RIP

Below is snipped from a post on the MTF website from Ron's son Charlie. Thought I would share it here since Ron was active here as well. Many of you may recall reading and seeing the pics from his most recent trip to Alaska on his GS. While I never personally met Ron, I had a few e-conversations with him.

This post is from Ron's oldest son Charlie.
My father loved you guys and always talked about his buddies on the message board and all the people he met with on his travels.
He died yesterday, July 11, 2006, in a freak railroad accident. He worked for the railroad in Memphis and was unknowingly hit by a car and died at the railroad before they could get him to the Med.
Your prayers and thoughts are appreciated.
The one thing my Father wanted for his life and for yours is that he could be a witness for Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior.
God Bless you all for what you have meant to him.
Sincerely,
Charlie Melton

Tragic. My hart goes out to Charlie and the rest of Ron's family and friends. Too often we hear about tragedies on the road through these forums, but less often about work related accidents. Let us all remember that we never know how or when it all ends and that we should make the most out of every moment with our families and our time on two wheels. Ride safe, live safe and Ron, thanks for your contributions to our community. May you rest in peace.

I enjoyed reading his posts in the GS and similar forums. I believe he worked for the BNSF locally. Although I never met him or talked to him, sounded like a really nice guy. Prayers for the family...he rides in a wonderful place now.

The Lord bless and keep him. His witness lives on in my prayers. Now, true life is in him in the kingdom of God.

Godspeed Ron,

When first reading one of these posts about a fellow rider who has passed, I always think it is going to be one of those anxiety inducing threads about how one of our own had a terrible motorcycle accident.

It's stories like Ron's that remind me why I do ride, that the end can come at any time and any fashion, and to live life how you want. I'm glad that Ron got to live his on his own terms while he was here.

I was born a lonely singer, and I guess I'll die the same, but I've got to feed the hunger in my soul.
