you could splurge one night and stay at a campground with showers...at least halfway thru the trip...just an idea

Back and Showered!

Well we made it home in one piece with lots of stories, a couple new scratches, and a few new friends.

The trip began in WI. An hour into the ride to Billings the headlight bulb blew out. Nice start to the trip. A stop at the Stugis BMW shop solved the problem though. Upon arriving in Billings, MT the Tourances came off and the TKCs went on. A local gas station served as a make shift shop even though it was 95 degrees out.

From Red Lodge it was on to the Big City traffic jam called Yellowstone...

We made it thru the Saturday traffic in Yellowstone and exited the park to the south and stopped at the Tetons for a quick picture.

On to Dubois, WY for some dirtier business. We ventured out to find a remote area to camp for the evening.

Above is a side trail to Union pass between Pinedale and Dubois. The trails were very scenic and pretty easy even two-up.

We ended up staying at the Double Cabins camping area at the end of a 25 mile dirt road North of Dubois. The area was pretty nice and quiet...

Union Pass to Pinedale

We took our time waking up the next day and started to head on the ORV trails to Pinedale.

From Pinedale it was onto the South Pass City & the Great Divide Basin. We made it to South Pass thru the Big Sandy area. We found out that its called Big Sandy for a reason. Its pretty sandy and if your not careful it will give you the Big Sandy one...

These cows were fast...

We ended up missing the Great Divide Basin due to weather fast approaching from the West. We made our way down to Flaming Gorge and got the camp set up before the rain hit.

We left the flaming gorge area the next day and shot accross Utah heading South to Bryce Canyon.

Looking back on it now I think that I might have been speeding, but we made good time anyway... ...poor knobbies!

It was pretty hot on the pavement. The heat was getting to us a bit. At one point I thought I saw some sort of Demonic Aerostich-Wearing Motorcyclist Devil Creature in my mirror. It must have been the heat...

It was a little bit early for the Rut but this deer in the Bryce Canyon Campground was humping everything in sight, even the camp hosts golf cart.

We ended up meeting another Advrider who was heading back to Cali from the WestFest rally. It was great, she camped next to us and hung out for most of the evening. We went for a short ride the following day and got some good tips on places to hit on our way to Colorado.

WARNING: The chipmunks are extremely hungry in the Park.

They eat rocks apparently. A lady at the overlook told us that the chipmunks are responsible for chewing away these great rock formations in the Canyon. Thanks to them we now have this great park.

Due to the wildlife we left the Park in search of more dirt...

On to the Henry's in search of the infamous Bison...
