if you were on this side of the pond be no problem the freight be a killer to you.

what you got in mind a rallye type fairing similar to the 640ADV side by side style ?
using the 8" BD lights ?
6" BD look better & easier to work around but 8" gives a killer light & needs to mount from the steering stem NOT forks

My setup is slightly different.... (201ft Feadship)

I do have a bit of a machine shop on board, so I can do some things, but not all
Besides, putting out fires in the middle of the night seems to be more important to some people than drooling over adventure pics.

I can't WAIT for my 1 month break coming up. Where should I go? What should I do? Hmmmm.....

No problem, but I must warn you...I live in West Texas. It's about as scenic as the underside of a kitchen table, but if you really want to do this, we could work something out.

When is you month off? I am leading a Tour de Utardia in September. 10 days of Super Enduro bliss through deserts and mountains - 90% off road. If you wanted to tag along, I could bring the setup to the starting line...much more scenic.

I would need to look at the attachment points of the BD lights first. The lights and their mounts really dictate much of the design of the fairing.

I have been working on some ideas for a while, and don't plan to get rich off them. I just do this shit as a hobby.
For you Orange Crush SE fellas, if you will send me supplies, are willing to pay for shipping, and realize that this sorta thing has to wait until I have free time, I will be willing to make some rally fairings for some folks so they can abuse them. You give me feedback so I can improve the design, then in the future, if I decide to sell them, I will need your testimonials as to how awesome they are.

My first attempt at a rally fairing is very stealth-fighter looking, and has met with mixed feedback:

The desired instruments are added to a flat blank piece of carbon fiber and attached to the fairing:

That was version 1.0, and it is very solid - much more so than the stock, the Trail Tech XID, or the Lynx (all of which I have owned). It gives excellent clean air when standing, but has serious buffeting issues when sitting and riding highway speeds. It fits well with the Safari or stock tanks.

Version 2.0 is still in the works, but will have a similar stealth-fighter like design. I like this design because it makes the instruments easy to read while standing, and gives clean air when on the pegs.

As I have now gotten much better at vacuum-bagging, It will be lighter and stronger. Additionally, it will have better "trunk space" for the huge wiring harness of the SE.

The design I have for attaching the fairing should (in theory) be transferable between bikes. I have a 300XC and a XR650R, and the mounting system will work for all three bikes. The concept is that one rally fairing and one set of really good lights can be easily transferred between different bikes, instead of buying multiple lights and instrument clusters.

The rally fairing will be in three parts, and I am finishing the mold for the second part today. The third mold will be pretty easy. Once I have the molds, making the parts is easy and relatively inexpensive, and I would be willing to knock out a couple for the cost of supplies, just to get some feedback from SE riders.

Any sort of custom design, I could also do for the cost of supplies, but it will take me considerably more time - weeks, not months. Or you can just link to the discussion of composites in my sig line and start your own!

If they wound send me this tower, I would be happy to copy it in Carbon Fiber . They really have a cool design, but it is their design, so I won't try and duplicate it.

These are mounted to the fork tubes, which is the way I am currently doing mine. I actually considered using the 6" BD lights, but I already had the Hellas lying around.

I am sure I could build a shell around their frame that would house the wiring harness. The shell could also be extended to act as a windscreen/nav tower. It would take some time, but it could be done.

it would be better mounted off the frame/steering stem to take the weight of the steering.

Out expolring some dirt roads today, when I realized I was close to one I had driven many times in the past. Made my way over and WWWWHHHHHIOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!

Guess the county had decided to put some freash dirt out on this clay packed road. Stayed up, but it was like 8" of fine powdered dirt on top of hard clay. Rode it just to get to this point, 10' of concrete in the middle of several miles of dirt.
