Is it normal there to share a track with horses? That's a BIG nono here in the US. Part of the share the trails movement here is to stop motorized travel on equestrian tracks because it spooks the horses and has killed riders in both parties. Watching you ride around the horses was making me more nervous than the erosion!

Just goes to show that if the rider is calm the horse will be too. None of those horses freaked out.

Mate - this is Indonesia - everything is normal.... I passed a cop car on the wrong side, speeding yesterday... no problem. That'd get me locked up at home.

Yeah... it was a concern for me. The locals don't ride up that bit (as I said my guide was "little bit scared") - but those horses are totally used to loud bikes. I don't think I saw a single bike up there that didn't have the exhaust baffles out. There was even a two stroke with an expansion chamber on it.... I checked out a few horses' reactions down on the flats and they didn't bat an eyelid.

If you think the erosion was a problem.... you should see the consequences of a wrong turn.... Wheeeee..... but that was no worry.... there was a solid trail of green horseshit to follow.

No animals were harmed in the making of this video

Hey, besides, I had the army on side. I'd dug these guy's army bike out of the river the morning before. They'd never have got out without me. I ended up bogged to over boot-top height while extracting them... such fun, riding around with boots full of volcanic sand
