On a road bike they might be fine, but they are downright dangerous on a dirt bike. The vent has a little BB inside that's designed to seal the vent if the bike tips over. Only problem is that on an MX or Enduro bike, harsh terrain will cause the BB to bounce inside the housing, causing the vent to suddenly seal. I speak from experience on nearly exploding an IMS tank. I pulled the valve and my fuel was at a roaring boil due to the pressure. Several of my riding friends have had similar experiences. Because you have a steel tank means you would build enormous pressure prior to any possible failure. Good old fashion long tubing is the only way to go. That vents scare the $hi+ out of me. Otherwise, slick engineering!

Thanks for the tip. Actually, lost the thing about three years ago. Was just pressure-fit into the hole. So, problem is solved with a piece of tubing, as you say!

Yes, EXACTLY like that! It shocks me that so many people think so highly of these evil little bastards. Friends don't let friends ride with fuel/air bombs strapped under their nuts.

Putting this here in order to make sure an SE owner gets this:

Free: SE rear fender. I had a subframe failure and the only damage to this is both side number plates are cracked. This is TOTALLY usable, tho.

Not going to ship. You can pick up at my house in AZ 86406 or at my work in CA 90710.

Let me know thru pm

I use slip ons for my Adv and SE. I went to an exhaust fab shop and had them make a short section of pipe that the muffler slips on. Then had my welder attach it to the mid pipe.
