ULyS, I like it a lot! A well sorted out big bore enduro like this was the bike of my dreams years ago when all my bikes were dual sports. I've been spending more time off road than on lately and really having fun discovering old skills. Eventually, I'll swap the street wheels back on for some longer road rides as it's very comfortable for me on the road. November weekends are very busy for me but I hope we can ride after Thanksgiving.

Rubberdown - I still haven't gotten back on the Uly, but really I think I am ready. I want to venture off road too but I have the wrong tires on the bike. The conti are great for dragging knees but not for mud. They did good on the dirt and gravel roads around Boone, but it was hard pack and anything would have done fine. I could not locate Syncs at the time and it was just before Boone so I got what I could. I am either going with an MT-60/Sync combo next or Syncs all around and get a more dirt oriented bike for the trails. The day after Thanksgiving is Ulywife's day, but Saturday and Sunday are open. If the weather holds and you venture out let me know.

Looking to do an easy all day dual sport ride 11/19. 90% of the ride will be highway.
Starting at the Starbucks in Fayetteville then to Lumberton to do an optional 10-20 miles of ATV sand trails.
Then before getting to Southport, doing some FS road exploring before taking the ferry to Fort Fisher.
Maybe try to find a spot to do some beach riding near Kure beach before heading to Wilmington.
Then from Wilmington home.

Somehow, I completely missed about a month of the thread I started Between bike problems, ankle problems, job problems, internet problems....... Anyway, How bout a pavement ride the second Saturday in January? Gonna look up a route here shortly, or anyone have a preference? Seems to me there is a bunch of riders in this area which is AWESOME. I have been working way to much and need to get out on the bike for a while.

I seem to be a touch west of you guys, Im in Whitsett, NC. Thats between Burlington and Greensboro.

Im currently riding a R1100S, but am contemplating trading for a dual sport.
I work at a Kawasaki dealer (see linky below), and willing to help out the best I can.

Hopefully soon, Ill have a dual sport to ride, Id love to visit the outer banks and ride on the beach when possible!

Rip, I hope you and your friend are doing better!

Ride Safe!

My plan wasnt a dual sport ride. My plan was a ride for anyone visiting this site to do some pavement ride, kind of a meet and greet type thing. Maybe one to 5 hour pavement ride and some food somewhere inbetween. If anyone has any suggestions as to a route feel free to post or email me at cj5lovr2000@yahoo.com Maybe we can actually do this thing

2006klr650 - Second Saturday of January is 13th and the same weekend as the IMS show in Washington DC. A few of us are planning to go there. Sorry I am planning some of my bigger rides for early 2007 and realized the conflict not that we are riding to DC in January, but still going to the show.

As far as for destination we like to ride over in your neck of the woods. Lillingotn to the Uwharrie are some of the best riding east of the NC mountains.

Thanks for bumping this thread...didn't know it existed and I was just wondering who else might be in the area. I'm in N.Raleigh and have a F650ST.

Pretty much the noob...but always up for a ride on the weekend and connecting with others in the area for gear, road and maintenance stories.
