This weekend I'll try to fit the C airbox into the R frame. There is a tutorial on the yahoo groups
Any suggestions??
Will the R swingarm hit the C airbox so I'll need to use the C swingarm?

holiday?

Nope.' Just got my pumper carb fitted and it fired up today! I need to get the throttle cables sorted yet, but she runs. Too nice to spend all my time fixing shit, I put 700miles on my Connie yesterday and the day before. Maybe I'll learn to post pictures and show you how my project is coming along.

Pretty much my first post here. I do a lot of lurking. Not sure why I haven't found this thread with previous interweb searches.

Anyway... Thought I would share my attempt at a KLX650R Rally bike. I love this bike, for the record. Just installed the BD double LaPaz lights and billet innovations bracketry. Zumo GPS and Trailtech computer. Also just ordered the big Acerbis tank to replace the IMS model.

Running a 19 inch front and 17 inch rear wheel with Shinko 705's. The street rear has a C model hub and standard lacing. My dirt wheels are the the factory set in the same size with Woody's super lace running IRC Vulcanduro's for now.

Rear fender and fork guards are grafted from a KX. Currently sorting how to fab a ProMoto Billet rack to it. Wolfman tank bag, saddlebags and a GiantLoop tank bag thing.

Maybe one day I'll have pics loaded somewhere so I can share them.

So my clutch is starting to slip on my 94 KLX650C Just under 20k miles. I regeared it back to stock which causes me to use the clutch more in tight, narly, uphill areas. A few questions.

E bay even has used clutches, should I even consider that?
OEM or aftermarket?
If aftermarket which one?
Any to avoid?
Get everything (friction, steel and springs) or take apart check/measure than order?

Thanks for the help.

You wouldn't be looking to ditch the IMS tank would you?

Take it apart and see what you need. Probably only need the fiber plates. Soak then in oil before installation.

Have you removed the clutch and tried to de-glaze the fiber pads first? You may just need to sand a little with fine paper on both the fiber and metal plates to remove any glazing and be back in business.

Nope, didn't pull apart yet. Trying to decide if I'll wait till the end of ridng season (not long) and do over the winter. It's not slipping yet just weaker. When trying to bump start the engine clutch slips tire doesn't lock.

Any chance I can save the right side engine gasket or will I need a new one?

Still want to know OEM, Barnett, EBC, DP, or what. Cork, kevlar, carbon fibre etc. Lots of choices out there.

Don't waste your time trying to fix your clutch. I just put in a new complete EBC clutch kit that come with the fibre plates, steel plates and heavy duty springsfor $70 off Ebay. Your gasket will tear as well and needs to be replaced as the gasket covers alot of important oil galleries.
One way to tell if you bike clutch slips a little is if you can get the front wheel off the ground easy in 2nd gear, my bike was very hard to wheely where my sons KLX was easy, now with the new clutch it comes straight up 1st and second just with the crack of the throttle.

Hey MYWAY, Starting to get ready for the Longest day ride again this year, remember 1500 klms of dirt in 15 hours across NSW Australia. Hope for no rain this year.

Cheers Fogo...
