KLX650C starter switch

Does anyone happen to know if a non-latest model KLR650 start switch/RH control pod (I can verify the 08+ unit doesn't work ) , or any other kawi unit for that matter, will connect up with a 93 KLX650C by chance???

TIA

Hey guys, I just had a friend work on my fiance's 94 klx 650c and he pointed out a few things to me. First, her battery wont hold a charge after riding. It's brand new. He tested it and it's reading kind of low. I'm thinking the stator is on it's way out. Can some one post up a link to changing out the stator, and where can I get one...aside from a flea-bay used one. Second, there seems to be a clank on the right side of the engine every once in a while. Any idea what that could be? It has the manual cam chain tensioner.

I think a pre 2007 KLR switch will work. Got a shop manual?, here is a wiring diagram for a 2006 KLR. http://www.buttonhome.org/photos/?g2...geViewsIndex=1.

The wiring colors are different but it looks like the R/Y off the starter relay is the same as W off the relay for a KLX

I have a 1994 KLX 650 California model thats currently not running. I may have it figured outwell see this weekend. If not, Ill be asking questions. But when she does run, thats a really fun bike. Much bigger cajones than the KLRs. Im 6-2 230lbs, so I like a big heavy bike to go with my big heavy frame. Love woods riding, and technical stuff. Im bound and determined to get her running very soon, I have trails calling my name.

Does anybody can tell me, how much is Oil consumption on yours KLX 650 C model ?

And how you checking your oil level ?

Because on my KLX 650 C,oil level rise and fall under normal, although in engine is normal volume of oil !

none, less....

start engine, drive a while, warm it up, keep the klx straight up, let it idle for some minutes, stop, still straight up, watch oil lever 3/4 off glass done.

I do this after a ride, the idle time with petcock closed, (lower fuel level in carb, start next time better if bike is standing for a while on its side), stop, check oil level.

If you have oil under the filterbox reservoir that comes out the box after the filter, you can make a longer tube loop up from cilinderhead to the filterbox. The oil condense in the tube and float back to the cilinder head.

even some build oilcondensater between above the cilinderhead.

example in this forum

ok,I understand this story for measuring oil level.

But,what about oil consumption ?

I heard that 250 ml / 1000 km is just fine

I just finshed rebuilding my KLX650c engine and took it on a 6000 klm trip into outback Australia, Heavily loaded on dirt roads,
Used 200ml in 6000 klms.
Myway is correct, sometimes the engine oil level Lies. Sometimes low sometimes high, oil get traped over in the magneto side of the engine, (LHS)

Cheers Fogo...

Interesting idea, but how do you envision getting the bearings between the lobes?
