Lets See Pics Of Your Mis-Used and Abused Street Bikes!

Long story short... I have 400 good pics from a 10k mile cross-country ride that week did this summer. NO superslab... 10k miles of twolane, gravel and tar, and dirt - hardly took an offramp the entire trip. I am SLOWLY working my way through them and I'll post the report in the COLD winter months.

While going through them I noticed alot of pics that show misuse and blantant ABUSE of our street bikes.

I'm was sure I was not the only one. "Ruffus" proved that I'm not in another thread:

Lets SEE them ALL! Post 'em up guys and show there is more than one way to have an adventure!

Here are just a FEW of mine - there will be dozens more this winter!

after climbing pikes peak.

holy-road-contruction! the grader was clearing us a PATH to ride on - i hit a FEW 1.5 foot deep sink holes that woke me up during this 5 mile ride! The superhawk had dirt backed around it's exhaust and in between the front rotors after that little detour.

Nah... it's not overloaded! Yes that is 2.5 gallon of extra gas on the back. Used the spare tank 4 times during the trip. Superhawks are not designed for sport-adventure-touring

Doesn't look like much. But at the beginning of the trip (just 4 days prior) that was a lip polished rim, a polished swingarm, a new renthal chain/sprocket, and a new Metzler Z6. Thousands of miles of twolane, gravel, and backwoods campgrounds will do that. Can you imagine was it would've looked like had we hit RAIN!

After just 10 days of travel time, the tire was down to the wear bars in the middle and starting to chunk. It was a Friday and the weekend would bring Arizona and Nevada two-lane at high speeds with not a cycle shop in a days ride. I had my doubts the tire would make the anticipated tire stop in Colorado... so I had it replaced early. Please note: the tire is still worn to the edge (which is slightly feathered over the sidewall on the other side ) despire full camping gear and a spare gas tank. yes you CAN drag knee on a fully (over)loaded sport bike.... you just need SMOOTH inputs and a bike you're comfortable on. It's not for everyone though

Crazy riders travel in groups and this was my companion on the trip... he says the Goldwing does nice controllable power slides in the gravel once you hit about 40mph Wouldn't of believed it had I not seen it - I wouldn't recommend duplicating it

He later went on to blow out a fork seal when the bike LEFT THE GROUND by 10" moving at a good clip over a mountain pass in CA. I don't have words to describe the sight of a loaded goldwing LANDING!!!

What do you do when no shop in a 200 mile radius will touch a GoldWing fork job on short notice? Do you have to ask?!....

Some shots from an '05 trip. The Superhawk felt PLUSH when loaded compared to the GS500E!

** IN THE END IT IS ALL WORTH IT TO FIND THE ROAD LESS TRAVELLED**

Nice ride and pics!

We're trying to keep this forum for ride reports. I wish we had a forum just for assorted pics...

yeah - i gotcha. the ride report will be coming in the next month... it will be VERY, VERY long. Hundreds of Pics, full GPS plotting, and lots of Narration.

at any rate, if any of the mods DON'T want this here - feel free to move it to 'road warriors'... I wasn't sure where to put it. Those guys will probably have a ball with it

OK, this doesn't look too hairy...

Except I was on a Goldwing...

There even was a short section of singletrack around a wash-out. No photos of that--- I was too busy trying to stay alive.

i have been told that ADVRiders make bad tour guides. Its not our fault that others choose a "single purpose" motor cycle.

the wife is still pissed.

and i have a bike to clean.

A bit blurry, but here you go. That's FZ1 is in front. We took the south end of the Mountain Loop Hwy last year via Granite Falls. It hasn't been a "loop" for a few years though due to mud slides. We found a nice forest service road though at the end of the pavement that we took after watching a KTM 950 Adv snub his nose at it and turn around. We rode for a couple of miles until we found a little lake to take a break at. My buddy took a cool video with his camera while riding his ZRX1200R. I went right through the center of a big wet muddle puddle on the way back for fun. Dirty, dirty, dirty street bike.

Joe has about a zillion photos of his street bikes in places they should never, ever go.
