In the Adirondaks a few weeks ago. The water's boiling for my first cup of coffee.

San Benito with a group ride. Lots of fun and someone forgot the tent poles, so we compromised.

A couple from my most recent trip....

First time camping on my new GSX650F.... (and first time using a bivy sack )

This was at West Fest 2011 in Darby, MT

the next night, I spent at Palouse Falls state park, WA... it was a nice clear night (at least until the thunderstorm rolled in at 4am)

Peru PtI

A while ago I posted some photos from my ongoing RTW trip. I didn't camp much through Central America and when I did it wasn't in particularly special locations.
However, I'm now back in Peru where I've had some great campsites, especially this past week riding through the mountains due south of Cusco to Arequipa.

In a cafe in Huaraz I met Charles Saxy-Good, the owner of Llanganuco Mountain Lodge on Lago Keushu. When I told him I was riding to Chacas on the east side of the Cordillera Blanca he said that in return for me collecting information regarding accommodation there, he would give me a free nights camping at his lodge on my way back. Not a bad spot for a freebie...

East of Lircay on a dirt road heading towards Ayacucho I found this spot at the entrance to an abandoned mine...

Judging by the track nobody had been there for sometime...

After trying unsuccessfully to find a bush camp on Lago Pacucha I followed a sign for 'Sondor Ruins' and after paying my 2 soles (50p/80c) to enter I asked if it was ok to camp..."Of course!" came the answer I wanted!

The sun sets at 1745 at this time of year in Peru so I set up my 'Tent Cinema', settled into my sleeping bag and watched 'Moto Siberia' the DVD that accompanies the ADV RR - 3 x KTM Go East. Nice job Maciek!

And awoke to this view...

Peru PtII

Santa Teresa (closest you can ride to Machu Picchu) to Chivay (East end of Colca Canyon)...

Night 1. Messing with my camera remote. Bush camping north of Calca, Peru at 4342m...

Another view...

Night 2. Accessing my bush camp just south of Paccaritambo...

In the morning the sun didn't quite hit my tent and so this photo isn't as good as I'd hoped but it does give an idea of the great panoramic view I had...

Night 3. Bush camping SE of Santo Tomas, Peru at 4187m

Night 4. Bush camping SE of Suyckutambo, Peru at 4330m. A combination of taking so many photos over the previous few days and the overnight sub-zero temperatures had taken its toll on my DSLR camera batteries and so these last two were taken with my pocket camera.

You're getting that camera remote figured out good, amazing the shots you set up, I don't have that kind of patience.

I'll be asking for waypoints Adam, those spots look to be the tits

MATE!!! I'll send you my whole GPS track when I finish with Peru. 2545km of dirt roads to date, I finally found a 5000m pass and a few days ago I rode a route that is in my top 5. You're right about patience though. I'm still trying to rig up my remote on the handlebars so that my knuckle (that;s what I currently have to push it with!) doesn't slip off at the crucial moment!

Funny how you've made a post directly after mine that mentions Andover. That's my hometown in the UK!
