huh .. this is the mods/farkles thread right ??

.. I didn't realize it was also about general maintenance .. I never thought to post up about the broken magnetic oil drain plug .. my stainless reusable oil filter .. or any of the other general maintenance crap I do to maintain my bike ..

.. or is someone using some new fancy-schmancy titanium super-lubed tectonic wheel bearings instead of the same bearings everyone else has been using for the past 20 years??

.. go figure .. learn something new every day ..

No ***t? Your magnet stayed in the case? Good thing you could easy it out... I know it wont float alot of your boats, but these are the "mods" I consider most essential, but I am a performance junkie...

Dont really have shots of my Ricor AIS shock, Intiminators, or progressive springs though....HA! To me the rest is fluff, but then again I don't tour my bike....

Your tank looks like metallic silver/grey (or polished metal but I know that ain't it). From the name on the side cover though, it must be a black tank reflecting in that photo??

The biggest regret I have with my 705 is lack of porting. I was running back and forth to my dad's place. It started burning oil. I got parts and took them to a local race shop. He sent out the cylinder and looked over the valves himself. I kept running back and forth to my dad's on another bike.

You can look in the intake and exhaust and see the obstacle course that air needs to flow around. Still there on my bike. I thought "it's only a KLR", but then again it may be modestly powered but no need to reassemble it with obvious deficiencies.

RANDOM FACTOID TIME: Kevin Cameron has written multiple times that where the flow turns, making the port narrower can increase the flow rate. If one expands the diameter at the turn it will allow eddies and slower flow. If one smoothly constricts the flow it remains faster in the correct direction.

That is why people that don't know what they are doing should not try to port their heads. More is not always better..... The flow #s this "master" achieves have been honed over many years and, with all respect to the original KLR guru, Cary, exceed his flow #s....... Another observation for you. Big bore kit+ big valves+ porting = need for considerably more carbureation, believe me.....

At first I thought, why would a performance junkie buy a KLR? But if it rocks rock it!
Ps. Sent you a pm
Nice bike.

???? On both accounts. For one, performance junkies love to transform anything they touch, the more the challenge the better. As far as your other comment, hahahahaha

KLR and high performance should never be used in a single post...
