low speed get off
I’ll be dipped in shit. Fucking servo assisted brakes my ass. I had the damn bike turn all the way to the right turning around in two parking spaces. Started getting too close to the second car for my taste and tapped the front brake. Dumbass me didn’t have the feet ready and Mr Gravity took over. :lol1 now I have some new character marks on the side case, valve cover guards and mirror. At least I didn’t roll off the thing and end up on my back ![]() where's my damn touch up paint????

At idle in first gear, handlebars at the lock in a turn. I went to feather the throttle against the rear brake and boom down she went at 2-3 mph with the whole fucking neighborhood watching. New mirror and some touchup paint and 2 months worth of bruised pride.

Dood
Sorry to hear that!
Rumor has it that a certain KRS rider did the same thing turning in two spaces on the parking deck here at work. Roll into nice lean to the outside need to slow down, tap the brakes and 630lbs of MC fall. Hand full of throttle, motor screaming and bike leaning on the right side. No scratches and the only thing hurt was his pride. DAMHIK Steverino screwed with this post 04-15-2003 at 08:00 AM |

Sorry, dude. I've come real close to doing the same on the GS. It'll prolly happen one of these days . . . At least you only picked up a few character marks.

If the engine is cold, and I am just creeping/lugging with no throttle in first gear (as when pulling out of a parking space and turning hard) the ABS can kill the engine when it cycles.
Found that out about the third day I had the GS. Didn't know why the engine died when I actually dropped it, but it happened a couple other times when going straight.

I've only dropped the GS once so far, and that's how I did it - slow tight turn, I was actually looking the other way at someone, touched the brake so I could talk to him - down she went.

Hate to admit it but last week I pulled in to the garage, shut off the bike and fooled around with the tank bag for a couple of minutes. Became distracted with something and got off with out putting the stand down.
Damn bike stood there long enough for me to get clear off before it came down and pinned me to the wall. Bikes ok as am I except for a good bruise to my pride as well as my leg. Damn their heavy. I now shut it off with the side stand. Bear |

Kids are heartless
I dumped my RT from a standing start the second week I owned it. Uphill, right turn at the stop street, stepped in the hole below my right foot when the engine coughed and died. I was full lock right and going over hard!
![]() To make matters worse, the corner I was at had about 25 of the neighborhood kids waiting for the school bus to pick them up. Not one of them could pass on the opportunity to get a good belly-laugh at my expense. Pretty embarrasing. At least they all wave at me now when I ride through the community! :): |

I dropped my RT while putting in on the centerstand in the garage. I should have known better as I was dealing with a very sore foot at the time. Anyway, the only damage was a cut in the heated grip, which fried it.
The next day, I was bitching to my buddy at work about riding in 35 degree weather with only one operational heated grip, and he said "You got off cheap. When I dropped my Harley in the garage, it cost me a washing machine!" Huh? It seems he rolled into his garage, hit the rear brake for the final stop, the rear tire flipped out from under him, and smashed the shit out of the washer. Seems he had bought his wife a new dryer, but the washer still worked, so he wouldn't spring for one. He still thinks she sprayed the floor with slicone spray.

ah, yes...good times.
i don't remember if I mentioned this: On the 370 mile ride home from the "accident" where my bike attempted to mate with a deer, I stopped for gas about 2 hours from home. As I came to a stop, the bike was a hint off center to the right. No biggee, right? You just plant your leg and hold on. Silly me with my broken finger and damaged connective bits in my right hand didn't have the strength to hold the bike upright and over she went onto the side that was untouched in the deer incident. The not so bright young gas station attendent came over and asked, "Did you mena to do that?" "yeah. She was tired and needed to lay down for a nap.....No I didn't mean f-ing do that. Give me a hand." I did apologize for being a bit ..umm.. terse. But crap. Yeah! I meant to do it! that's it! yeah...
