Wow, some really cool bikes here. I seem to spend all my time in the Orange Crush section and then a google search leads me to here and I find some photos of my bike. I've been thinking of doing a refresh of it but I don't know what will happen now that it's warm. I think I'm going to finally make that side stand and ride it around a bit.

The one thing I've been thinking of doing for a long time is a trellis swingarm with the driveshaft exposed. I'd like to find a set of Ohlins forks too. Nice bikes here all of them. Cool thread too - I'm going to subscribe for inspiration.

Wow, Gregor; Your bike is way beyond cool!

Did you polish out your aluminum tank yourself and if so, was it relatively easy or dificult?

Thinking about polishing out my aluminum tanked K75S (and painting the rest of the bike a different color) and am curious to know what I might be up against.

Bet it takes a lot of elbow grease, sanding blocks, metal polish and then a clearcoat, right?

Beautiful bike, Gregor. I seem to remember seeing an video of it running a number of years ago. It was amazing how it sounded. Is that video still around?

No, I never saw that. It's one of the reasons I don't really ride it much - it's stupid loud. That and the lack of a side stand make it very city-unfriendly. I have been thinking of making a different end cap with a baffle and some sound deadening material to take the edge off it a little bit.

Actually there's a lot of stuff I'd like to do but for the summer I'd like to take it out of storage and just start to ride it again.

that sounds like a good start. If you need someone else to ride it for you, I'll volunteer my time (I don't care how loud it is)

I'm about to start cafeing my bike and I'm curious as to the things you guys have done. I'm mostly going for a simple look, I'm gonna get a fiberglass tailpiece and I'd like to do the carb to airfilter trick and get rid of the aribox, do they make kits that do that? Where do you move the choke lever and cables? And my big question is for those that have the rearsest on their airheads.......are you happy with them? Also, I've got a 1972 /5 Toaster Tank in excellent shape minus some rust that I never could get off one of the chrome sides that I'd like to trade for the 6 gallon tank if anyone is interested, toss me a pm.

This is my bike as is, there will be a paintjob to go with the cafe racer parts as well. If you have any cafe parts to sell toss me a pm as well.

Damn, I really hate to see a bike in such nice condition converted like that. Why not find a project bike with a ratty seat, rusted tank and mufflers, and other missing bits, and build it up like you want?

well, budget mostly. I've actually got enough parts for 2 bikes except for engine. I've got all the other painted bits (though the tank is toaster), and even another frame and rear sub-frame. So in essence these peices will still exist, just not on this frame, they will go to my eventual build which is on down the road a bit.

I'm actually only planning on getting a fiberglass seat pan from caferace.com and some of the headlight mounted mirrors for a different look. Then paint. Everything else will actually stay the same. So no major modification, though i do enjoy the look of of the removed airbox with the pod filters directly on the carbs.

Adrenal, that is porbably the most beautiful bike I have seen. If I had to pick a bike and style that would fit me perfectly...it's your bike.
VERY nice job.

Thanks Blaine. Nothing like some positive feedback to help make all the hard work feel worth it!

I'm currently working on a carbon fibre hugger ie small close fitting mudguard attached to rear swingarm that travels with the rear wheel. Will stop muck being flung up onto the all that shiny stuff.

Also, have started a web page:
