That almost looks like a R80ST tank, or the small R80GS tanks which were the same.

check out this post of some of them and my bike with this tank in post #4421 - http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...=40269&page=45

this white tank is for sale by the way.

Hmm....now that you mention it, it does have that r80 tank look......i think the paintjob was throwing me off. I saw a post on another forum that said the bike was a custom r80 biuld, and so I guess that makes sense....!! How much you want for that tank

Don't suppose you need a /5 toaster tank for trade

Damn, that's a very cool looking bike. I LOVE the underseat megas with the "over the head" headers. I always liked that high exhaust from when they did it for the off road /2's. Super cool bike. Post some more when you get some paint on it.

Yeah, this is a nice looking bike. It looks like the whole bike started out as a R80ST. Notice where the seat mounts, they cut the frame and bent the tubes at at angle. Cool. I want to build one too. Already found an R90 engine/frame that I'm trying to buy...will convert it to single sided and cut the frame like this person did. Will try to be somewhat different....but I like the blacked out look too. I'm thinking of taking the blacked-out theme it to the extreme...damn I have so many projects.

Thanks for the compliment. I'll start working on it again, not much left to do.

R100s

Folks, I found a 78 R100S, ~100k miles, that needs some work and was thinking of picking it for a cafe project.

Before I jump into this thing can any direct me toward some resources for this type of project? Things like sites for parts and whatnot. I've looked through a lot of the cafe projects that have been featured here in Old School and I want to get this thing started off right if possible.

Thanks

8moremiles,

About 4 years ago, I was at exactly the same point that you are now. I bought the bike and ended up making my own custom bits and pieces which I am now selling. If you plan street rodding the engine, then the technoblog may be of use. I'm happy to try to help if you have questions etc.

Anyone know where to find an airbox/starter cover like that?

I'd even take one that just replaces the airbox.

Unfortunitly this bike isn't mine, but it is indeed the sexiest "Ole Girl" I've ever seen!
