Does anyone run Shell Rotella Oil in there bikes?
I recently had my kx250f rebuilt (motor) and my mechanic swears by Rotella diesel oil and says he uses it in all his race bikes and has for years without any problems. I was just wondering if anyone else has heard of this or does it? He told me to save my money and buy this stuff that it is just as good as any "motorcycle" specific oil.
Thoughts...............

It's come up before, try searching.
On a personal note, I've used it for many many thousands of miles in both singles and multis and have been very pleased. Not to mention it's readily available and cheap. Of course there are people who will tell you that your motor will crater and you'll die if you use anything other than OEM branded oil. YMMV.

I use it in all my stuff (bikes and diesel truck), have been for years. I use the 5w-40 synthetic stuff as its much easier starting in cold weather and I ride year round. The dino stuff is fine imho if your not starting in cold weather often.

Thanks for the feedback so far. Keep it coming
I am breaking the motor in now so I am using the Rotella 15w 40 (Non Syn)but afterwards I was thinking of switching the Syn Rotella if I get some positive feedback I might as well try it

I just switched to the Rotella in my KTM, from Golden Spectro. I researched it a bit and I've heard nothing negative. (Unless you talk to an Amsoil Nazi).

I have not used it in my bike, but I did use it in an '89 Porsche 911 I used to own (pre-divorce) without any problems. Lots of Porsche owners use this stuff for the older air/oil cooled engines because it is about a 10 quart oil change for that engine.
At BJ's wholesale club, I saw it for $33 or so for eight gallons, which is about $1/quart. |

I use Rotella in all my motorcycles - my VStrom ran especially well on the 5W-40 synthetic. Currently, I am using the dino as I couldn't find the synthetic at Walmart last time I needed some. But I'll switch back to the syn as soon as I can find it. Either way, Rotella is a very high quality oil that works particularly well in motorcycles, at a great price.

I run the Shell Rimula X which is pretty much the same as the Rottella just sold under a different name in this part of the world. Good stuff.
