yes. the oil doesn't get filtered without the tube.

Well I bought it with 11k, now it has 14k, wonder how long ago it got turfed? Runs well, good mileage (52mpg recent trip) hope it didn't cause too much grief.

Throw a new tube in the oil filter, you'll be OK.

Throwing away the oil tube accidentally is a very common occurence, don't freak out too much.

Step 1: Mow lawn.

Step 2: Sift through grass clippings.

Step 3: Take mangled remnents of tube to dealer .

Step 4: Order tube.

Step 5: Don't ask.
