G'day

I was wondering how many TTR are in this forum and I'd like to C your motorbike

Here is mine the last time I was in Oz

TTR600/650 never made it to the US. I think only Oz & Europe got them.

It's a shame the TT600R/E's never got to the USA, as the original TT series was designed for USA desert racing. Funny how things turn out, innit?

I have took the thing camping a couple of times, just strap the stuff on the back with ratchet straps and head off.

Nice. The US gets the "starter" playbikes, 100s, 125s, 225s, all with heavy steel frames & awful suspension, hoping they'll grow into a WR or YZ. If they'd kept bringing the TTR600R here, KTM would have something to worry about.
I wish they'd drop that Raptor (ATV) 700cc engine in a WR450 frame, make it DOT legal & call it a day.....

At the moment the only 'adventure' bike Yamaha UK have is the XT660. It's nice, and in comparison the TTR600 is an old school air-cooled throwback, with a carburettor instead of fuel-injection. For some of us that's preferable, if only out of a liking for the bikes of ten years ago :-)

KTM are cleaning up in the 'adventure' sector here, as are Suzuki with their Strom's. We dare not mention the impact BMW have with their F650GS's and there is a new single engine from BMW coming 'soon', plus an 800GS twin. We don't have the land in the UK for much true trail/dirt riding and pure-bred trail-bikes have never sold well over here. Maybe that's why Yamaha stopped TT/R production in 2004, they're still trying to shift the last few TTR600's at closeout prices, mine (bought new in 2006) looks like it was made in 2004 - came with tires made in 2003 and the Acerbis made plastics are date stamped early 2004.

It's funny how KTM can carve out a market that Yamaha seem to have missed - Suzuki too have got good sales of their DRZ400 in Supermoto trim.. Yamaha seem to be turning into Toyota, turning out a series of rather staid and sensible street models . But I can't imagine they'll ignore the new Adventure sector for too long, every fourth bike you see over here now seems to be a GS or big trail bike of some sort....

Here is my TTR 250 dual-sport, perfect bike, i rather prefer this bike than my 98' XT 600 E , much more fun and really good for commute, 60 mph no problem
