Another reason to change your Doo-hickey...

So I finally got around to putting in the new tensioner lever (otherwise known as a doo-hickey) on my KLR 650. To my suprise, it went like clockwork and was very easy. Also to my suprise, there was no damage to the stock parts. Here's what they looked like:

As you can see, both the lever and the spring were intact. The lever showed no evidence of cracking or deformation. However, on inspection, I realized that the stock spring had virtually no travel left in it. My KLR has about 7000 miles, so I'm pretty sure I'll need that adjusting range someday. So I replaced the spring with the short one from the kit (thanks Mike), and all seems to be working great.
