Painful...

Frank! This is painful to look at. I wish I could have figured out how to have made this trip with you!

You're planning another one for next summer, right??? :)

Looks awesome.

Duane...nice pictures! (And cooking!)

Keep it coming...

Doin great boyz!

Where are all the people? does anyone live or work out there? farmers cowboys Indians? anything?

Oh and Autocom... did you guys have FRS or some commo system between you? did you guys get a Satphone or something in the event of an emergency and no cell phone signals?

and how about special medical evac insurance? Don over at Burger's got some sort of Jetflight insurance for 10 days while going to Labrador...sadly he crashed and broke some ribs and a collar bone so it was totally worth the 130 bucks... can't even imagine the cost had he not done it. It inculded insurance to get the bike home too.

Just wondering...

jorge.

Jorge,

In the remote areas we saw almost no one. A rancher or hunter mostly. All very nice. Certainly no out of state plates !
We used FRS through our autocomm units. We also did rent a sat phone in case of an emergency. There were none however. GPS WAS ESSENTIAL.

FRS worked pretty well, but the units with push-to-talk buttons seemed to create less noise than those with vox (voice activated) switches.

When we left off we had spent the night in Salmon again. We are getting ready to depart south now for 40 miles to Ellis where we will enter the Pahsimeroi Valley. This report will do it no justice.

As the navigator, I double check my routing against the GPS before leaving the tarmac.

Wide open !

Team 950

Notice the snow ?

We eventualy pop out onto hwy 75. We desperatly need fuel. We head south for the small.......small......super small town of Macky Idho. The have fuel and this great burger place where we have lunch.

Now Anna, (thats Joe's (Gobi) wife) I tried to stop this, I told Joe to just walk out and leave without eating, but to no avail. The owner likes the strong silent type.

Gobi approaches innocently

a lot of giggling going on........oh o, I better step in and stop this nonsense !

Too late, Anna, Im sorry. I tried.

Anna, before you slap him upside the mohawked head, take note of his hand placement. See, he loves only you !

Ah, but no more than 5 minutes later after departing Gobi pays the price for his foolishness !

$$$$$$$$$$
Yawl come back now, ya hear ?

LEO's around the country must not like the Jersey Boyz much...

Walter got a gift while up at Cromags and BIll got a documentation check too... but you got "cojones" for shooting that pic... did the LEO see you take it? and i must say "Old Joe" was not a happy camper in this pic... unlike the earlier pics with the teeny boppers at the burger joint... i guess the LEO was not a sucker for the blue eyes and the big smile...

i think i speak for all following this thread Frank...lets step it up a bit on the posts... not getting anything done waiting for more data ... get to it man so we can get on with out lives and start planning the 07 return to Idaho!

really, a great trip and report... keep it comming. Jorge. Oh, i am not seeing all of John's pics is that jsut me or do we need to give him a hand there?

After that fun we head right for the ULTRA COOL, NEVER TO BE MISSED,
BURMA RD.

We are heading to the Copper Basin. I cannot begin to describe it. It is truely a gift from god.

Ah what the heck, one more of Gobi getting his "fun ticket"

Now DK is my tail gunner, making sure we leave no lost souls behind. Being the honest fella that he is he takes a photo of his own crash ! Easily could have just kept that one to himself. Good on ya DK ! Join the club.

Remember the "Bottom Blow" phrase ? Heres one in action. Now Im not going to reveal who it is, but I'll give you all a clue as to who it's not. Before leaving for this adventure, I just returned from a week at the beach in Cape Cod and was very tan. Look at that white moon.....

Its getting late. Tony Huegel had suggested to me that when we hit the Copper Basin that we should camp at a special place he likes. We found it.
And special it was.

This was my favorite night by far. Just spectacular.

Spongebob approves

This is actually DK's super camera capturing the full moon rising.

DK at work. Delish !

I mean the guy even had it seasoned !

Remember, we are traveling on motorcycles !

The next morning dawns and we mount up and head for the chic upscale town of Sun Valley/Ketchum

I know you guys cant see it but there are elk up in those aspens.

Tony routes us a special way into Sun Valley. As these ladies put it later in town, "you boys looked like the Dalton Gang riding into town! Where'd you come from ?? "

"Well mam we came from the" :

We go for breakfast here. I call Tony. He gave me all his phone #'s in case I needed him. I just wanted to thank him for all he did. If it were not for him, I would have just been throwing darts at a map hopeing for the best.

OK Fella's. I have to take a break. I actualy have to go to work. I'll be home soon enough and we will continue. I believe we have 4 days of adventure left.
Next up:
STAGE 5
THE OYWAHEE COUNTRY, REPORTEDLY THE MOST REMOTE AREA IN THE LOWER 48 (SW IDAHO'S HIGH DESERT PLAINS), SILVER CITY ID AND THEN OREGON/WASHINGTON AND HELLS CANYON !
Fill your popcorn bag, I'll be back !
