I wish

My wife and I just got back from a vacation/scouting mission there 2 weeks ago. We were(are?) looking for for someplace nice to move with our 2 girls. I'm begining to think she'll never move. She's just humoring me.
Have fun. The water should still be pretty warm. I saw a lot of trails that looked pretty nice over in the river road area-north of the Snow's Cut bridge-and some on the west side of CB. Unfortunately, THEY WERE ALL POSTED. I think some of it belong to the Army/Gov't.

signs never stopped me before...
I usually just play dumb and start talking in a foreign accent.
Then they just let me go :-)

So nobody lives in this area?

...You won't be the first to "not understand" the signs. There were plenty of tracks heading into the trails, mostly ATV I think.

Hard to belive we don't have any ADVriders in the Wilmington area. Maybe they just missed the thread. (maybe they're out riding)

Hope you have good weather. It was perfect while we were there. The day we go home they got about a foot of rain in Wilmington!

I'm in the process of moving to Southport but have not had an opportunity to ride the area as of yet. Expect Carolina Pine Forest and Swamp romp type riding which is a lot of fun.

I have just converted my second DRZ to a Supermoto and have not even taken the maiden voyage because I have been so busy. I don't even have internet access for weeks at a time...

I hope to be in Southport October 1. Maybe we could supermoto around Wilmington and I could get to know the area...I deserve some time off!

A few places to ride, lots of sand

Hey GreggNJ, you can have some fun there. I went to school there and still get down to see buddies in town and ride sometimes. River Rd on both the east and west side are pretty fun but VERY sandy. If you can catch a VERY low tide on the Cape Fear River it is a blast to cut over to the riverfront and let it rip down the bank for a speed run and power slide or ten. See attached pic.

You can ride on the North and South ends of Carolina beach with a licensed vehicle. South end probably more area. They recently instituted a fee to do so, but may be fun although deep sand at entrances.

Not much in the way of public riding areas in the vicinity though.

"Lake Norman" not that it matters, most people who live there dont know where it is.
