Rider Seat thread R1200GS

Purchased my 05 R1200GS, the GS had a Rick Mayer seat in place...which is a good seat...however with my 6'3" 260 lbs, and long legs.... I don't have enought room.. the seats fills like I am sliding forward... I wouldn't use a passenger seat, I have a touratech snap on luggage plate instead.

In other words, looking for longer rider seat as well as wider... and with backrest would be a plus...even taller longer seat would be oK...

So... do I modify the present Mayer seat?

Russell Day Long seats...any longer or wider?

Sargent?

Kontour?

Corbin -which I really like my past corbins seats on LT and 1150GS.

Anyone got one these on GS in the Chattanooga, Tennessee or WNC upper GA area...?

Thanks

Need your suggestions...

long legs

I am 6'8" tall and so far I am using an air hawk seat cushion and the stock seat in the low position in the back and the high positon in the front. When I want a back rest, I put a pack on behind me. This is with the r1200gs. I have the aero flow windshield and it all works pretty well for me. I too would like to have a better seat with a backrest, but it is such a hassle when you go to sell later, that I just decided to go this route for now. Agian it is not bad. Good luck. brenter.

Rick's work is custom seats.

give him a call. He can modify his work to your requirements.

I have a Russell but I'm not tall. For taller people, they can make the seat higher, and it's already nice and wide to support you butt and upper thighs. It's the only true Day Long saddle.

Stay away from Kontour.. just do a search on this site to find out why.. just sayin'...

I sent in all my pictures and measurements and I told the folks at Russel to go high on my seat (I like leg room) and above all else make sure that the seat does not slide me forward. I also went all leather (had vinyl Bill Mayer before), with a seat heater and The result was the most comfortable motorcycle seat I have every sat on.

Sargent low seat for me. Works great, but I have short legs.

Jim,

Sooner or later, you are going to end up on a Russell!
