My only problem with this thing is it looks like it would increase the likelyhood of tumbling down the street instead of sliding. It may decrease damage to your torso but increase the likelyhood of breaking a limb.

Maybe an acceptable trade-off, but you won't see me wearing one.

Freakin Safety Nazis are at it again...

I agree, it probably adds to the possibility of tumbling, instead of sliding. I think that they haven't quite thought out just what your legs will be doing when your upper torso is so firmly ensconced in the air bag.

I can see spinal injuries occuring from ill fitted units whipping the wearer into an upright position from his riding crouch. Add to that the horrible broken legs occurring because the now tumbling rider cannot ball himself up to keep his legs from flailing. And he can't see a Damn thing either so he gets hit by the semi instead of getting out of the way when he finally stops rolling.

Well, I don't think anything will make falling off desireable, and I do not think that even if this worked, falling off would be comfortable.

Speaking as someone who has "fallen off" his bike at 80+ MPH, I would say it is not the pain that keeps us safe. What helps us be safe is learning how to ride properly.

Having been through this I think much of the time people don't have the presence of mind or the time to try to ball yourself up. Things happen very quickly; one second you are on your bike, the next you are sliding and rolling down the road.
