Hey all - like many on the board, I've been riding with the Sidi Discovery boots. Great boot, but since day #1, I knew those plastic buckles weren't going to last forever and most likely not even the life of the boots. Well, unfortunately I was right. I've had two break on me and now I need new buckles. Does anybody know where I can get them? Any and all help is much appreciated!
Thanks folks!! bry

I believe newenough.com can fix you up with those. They are good people and I have ordered from them multiple times.

I had to order four or five replacement buckles because the small metal pins in them kept falling out. I paid for the first two, then contacted Motonation and they sent the others to me at no charge.

Thanks everyone!!
Thanks for the info, looks like I'll order up a few buckles and some extras for "future reference!" I also had one of the little metal pins come out on me - but luckily I found it and was able to press it back in!
Great boots - crappy plastic buckles!!

I'm curious. How are you guys breaking these buckles?
I've been wearing these boots for three years and have never broken a buckle. (I probably just jinxed myself). I've gone down in them and used them fairly heavily, so it's not like they never leave the closet.

I think that the plastic buckles actually breaking is due to stress/fatigue. I guess it might have something to do with how tight the user buckles his boots?! As far as the little metal pins falling out - I think that is just luck of the draw.

Somewhat pissed....
So I call around and get in touch with Juan, the warranty guy at Motonation, regarding my broken Sidi Discovery buckles. He basically tells me that buckles are not "part of the boot" and that they are NOT covered under the factory 2-year warranty. What?
I don't get it. I quickly figured out that I was going to be getting nowhere with this discussion and hung up. What I learned (other than the fact that my boots buckles are not a part of my boots) is that I have to buy new buckles that Motonation happily carries for....are you ready for this..... $8.00 for a pair. So if I need ONE small buckle and ONE longer buckle, I am out $16.00!!! What a bunch of BS!Warranty shmoranty!

What I've heard is that you need to be careful that the T shaped free end of the buckle is fully seated before snapping the buckle shut. Not the best explanation, but the guys who have the boots should understand...

The strap itself cracks and fails at the serration. Bad plastic, no abuse or overtightening necesary. The replacements seem to last better but that is the strap that the pin is now loose in.
I bought mine from newenough.com. they have taken very good care of me, they even overnighted buckles to me (for free) while on a trip.

this might be another of those 'there were good days and bad days of Disco production' deals. I got mine in May 2003 (gum rubber sole). They were decidedly not waterproof, but i have worn them almost daily for 3 years (3 transamerican rides, 2 years of 8-hour work days, much dirt) and have yet to have a buckle/strap/clasp issue. They still snap shut at the buckles like the day i bought them.
Seating the pins of the strap end in the slots on the buckle is key. If you feel you have a warranty issue, push that shit. You paid yr money, prove to them you have a problem. Motonation's been responsive to other ADVers in the past. If you bought from Newenough you're prolly covered regardless. I for one wish i'd pushed the waterproof issue w/ mine, but i flaked out on it and decided i'd live with it/bitch about it
