Afghanistan Ride 2010. Back for More...
Not only Colebatch came back for more this year. I also returned to Central Asia looking for adventures. During this 2 months trip I found a lot of new friends but I lost old one. Very important for me. I hesitated if I should write this story but I deceided to share with you. You encouraged us to start advfactory.com and our clients are part of this advrider family. Pictures used in this thread were taken by several people: Uwe, Phil, Dziagu, Ola, Kajman, Darek... There are also of course some pictures taken by me.
It will take some weeks top complete this thread, sorry my time is limited and we have whole winter for it. I attach some pictures of Izi, taken this year by his friends... ![]() ![]() ![]()

So, Central Asia again... How did we get there? As usually. We have travelled across Russia and Central Asia on motorbikes several times so the journey itself is not so exciting for us anymore, at least not enough to talk about it here.
We fully understand that poetic descriptions of Kazakh steppes and Russian border crossings may sound fascinating to a advriders but we do speak Russian and we have seen steppes dozens of times. Boring! So, a few days and a few thousand kilometers later the endless Kazakh steppe was behind us: 100 km and turn, 80 km and a slight curve to the left. Enough to drive you crazy. Even encounters with road militia patrols became nice breaks in the routine. Same as we were for them, by the way. We didn't paid too much for militia but crossing the borders with all this stuff was really expensive. - 200 Euro per car! - 200? Why? - Unload the car. Completely. We have to check every box. It took us over 24 hrs to cross every border. Nightmare. We travelled by 2 cars with trailers, and there were 12 big bikes with us! |

We thought they finished section to Aralsk, but they didn't. So there is still little sandy around Irgiz. But less than 250 km this year... It can be very funny section when it rains... |
