DR350/250 Picture/Mod Thread!
If you've got a DR250 or 350 post up your pics and mods!
Here's my recent acquisition, a 1994 DR250SE, all stock save bars, handguards and gearing. ![]() I just got it Saturday. Really like the little bike and don't intend to go crazy with mods but....a bigger, plastic tank would be nice, taller/firmer seat and perhaps stiffer suspension. I see Acerbis and Clarke make 4.2 gal tanks for the bike, any opinions on them? Is either noticeably slimmer than the other?

I had a 1991 DR350S that I loved. I went crazy with mods though, trying to make it as good as my freinds street plated XR600R at the time and after about 3 grand in mods Ill list, It was about as good speed wise as a well prepped XR250R, but didn't handle as well off road....any where near as well. It was fast as youll see in the mods list it was very triicked out.
Acerbis 4.5 gal plastic tank rating 10 Acerbis desert plastic fenders 10 Neet seat cover 10 Cycle gear magic airbox 10 Poweroll 420cc kit, 11.5:1 compression 10+ Mikuni flatslide carb, 38mm 10 porting 10 Cobra exhaust 10 front and rear suspension revalved and springed for my weight and riding style by Racetech, great improvement, but not as good as I expected rating, 8 Perelli MT21 tyres 12+ GREAT FOR THIS BIKE. Baja dual headlights and re-wound stator to 210 watts, 20+ awesome to have 150 watts of light off road Excell blue anodized rims, stainless spokes, anodized the stock hubs black, again awesome, but bling and streinght only...still worht every penny. I must say where Im going with this, Still after doing all this to my DR when Id trade bikes with my freind who had the XR600R with only a pipe and jetting I could run away form him when he was riding my DR n the dirt, and he would run away from me when I was on my own bike. As a pure dual sport though it was great and I truely wish I still had it. It was a bitch to start though, more so even than an XR600R!

Here's another good place to start: http://www.kientech.com/
And this place: http://www.maximum-suzuki.com/ibf/index.php? I have two DR350SEs (1997 & 99) and I bought a '93 DR250SE for my wife. Lots of fun, easy to mod and they seem to run forever. I read your ride report. You're a brave man to ride from Newburgh, NY to Virginia on that bike. Glad you made it home safely. |

Thanks, I'm a member at max-zuke and have drooled all over the kientech site
One thing I've been curious about, with the big bore kits are the larger pistons somehow the same weight as the stocker? The thing I probably like most about the little DR is its super low vibration levels. Anyway, its just a curiosity, I don't plan to go as far as a big bore any time soon.

I've been through a couple of dr350s and have done some epic rides on them. Here is one from summer '05:
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...g+mexico+dr350 I had a '97 "se" and sold it for a '98 dirt model which I made street legal. The dirt model is a lot more bike for the money. |

DRs in DV
Here are a couple pics of DRxDR's bike: 435cc kit, oil cooler, heavy springs, IMS tank for range.
DRxDR is full size (6'4", 200 lb) so he makes the bike look smallish, but it hauls his heavy a$$ around pretty well. (Death Valley ride report is here.) ![]()

As of tomorrow I will have owned the DR for a whole week. I intend to change the oil and give it a good once-over, but also have to do a water pump seal on the sport bike and fix the wipers on my wife's cage so probably not a lot else will get done on the DR...
