Oh, you're talking about the bike not the rider! Got it.

Ocala BMW photoshoot 2002
This is from a BMW photoshoot in the Ocala Nat'l Forest. The whole thing was sorta a "bad idea." It rained so hard that the professional photographer's camera got ruined (no doubt the reason why none of the shots seemed to have surfaced in any ads anywhere). One guy fell and broke his leg. Every single one of us was down at least once. And finally, we proved one thing once and for all - that those of us with the full-sized GS's on street tires had no business in deep sand
Even Jimmy Lewis was down on this stretch, although I don't think that I have a photo of him falling with a new (at the time) GS Adventure (I think the guy in blue was someone else from the factory). ![]() ![]() ![]() (This guy looks pretty good, but if you look at the tracks that everyone else made you see that he's actually riding madly into the woods )![]()

Ugh.
Behind sweep in the rain in PA, tired and wet and about 45 on an easy easy two track at the end of a long day. Back stepped out on the grassy strip between the two tracks and launched the bike off the edge of the "road"... If it hadn't hit that tree it would have kept going a good 60 feet down. Sorry for the low quality pic... the KLR is the dark blob about 7' below the road surface on the right. It was well past dark by the time we fished 4 guys and a strap from town, and then the 7 of us managed to LIFT the thing back up to road level. The highlight was that the rider hit the road instead of going off the edge.
-Luke (of course, I was along but it wasn't me riding

Second pic
(Sorry to clog bandwidth)
Here's the bike. As usual it doesn't do justice to the steepness. It was a muddy drop, you needed your hands to climb up or down and it just kept going.
