Pizzaz, I hope you had a good day. The difference in your riding from the morning to the afternoon was remarkable. Well done.

To those that haven't been on one of these rides get into it. It doesn't matter how fast or slow it is for everybody.

so rhys, feedback on the se? sounds liek another good ride, i hpe major ddn't get too home sick (not to grant, if you gunna leave me alone with your wife I'll discover all sorts of interesting info)

Sylvi, if you toast that 908 in 1000km, i'll be most interested to ride with you and see how you manage to do it. My bike's heavier and i'm not easy on tyres so I'll be if you can wear it out that quick. i get about 4k out of mine which is about half the distance of certain other reports.

I watched from behind as Rhys rode the SE. We came out of a corner on the tar and the SE just left this dirty big black stripe about 20 - 25 metres long. Great to watch.......

well the engine in my 640 is stuffed up, it's real doey and won't accelerate.

I think you did something to it, cause it was fine before you rode it, and felt like riding a postie bike when I rode it after riding the 950

Thanks for the ride on it.

Hey Mouse,
Was good ride. There is no secret to doing a tyre in. Just keeping it on the tap minces em. I'm not doing anything else but riding it as I envisaged it should be ridden. Ask Rhys he had a bash at it as well.

On the way home coming up out from Wollombi there is some tight twisties. I can tell you I left some dunlop on the exit of some of those corners.

lol, no problem. Sorry bout that. Now you have been bitten by the SE, its all down hill to the KTM shop for you. Mouse you have been warned..

Well thats what happened to me anyway, one ride and I was gone for all money. It goes alot harder now with a bit of smoke and mirrors than standard.

to ride the SE feels much lighter than the 640ADV. Its like riding a normal dirt bike with a big tank - a little top heavy and takes a bit more effort to tip in than a 450 / 525, but no where as much difference as its actual weight suggests.

It steers nice and light if you spin the back , and its fairly easy to control slides on. A steering damper would be a benifit, as it was twitchier than most bikes if you finish the slide early by backing off, instead of keeping it spinning till upright and pointed straight.

I kept the corner speeds low, not my bike and all, but I think it would push the front heaps if ridden like a normal dirt bike, trail braking right into the apex. Brake early, tip it over and get on the gas and step the back out before the apex would be my prefered technique if I was trying to go quick.

The engine - - . It lights the tyre up when ever you want. It can be ridden without spinning the tyre all the time. it just takes a higher gear and gently rolling the throttle on. Only problem is as soon as you hit a bit of a bump it lights up anyhow. Maybe a session fidling with the shock settings would help, but it couldn't help much with that much poke in that light a bike, eh.

Oh yeah, that 908rr is gunna be gone in 1000 - 1500 KM easily. If I owned one, and I'm not going to (at least for a few years) I'd try a perelli suppermoto road tyre on the back. I cannot remember the name MT90 ??? but it looks like a roadracing wet, but a fairly hard compound. I had a set on my old Husky years ago, but I dunno if they come in an 18 inch.

Iwas thinking of a MT60, but they only come in 17 inch

MT 60

  • Street oriented on- off tyre for high performance Enduro bikes, with excellent off road performance
  • Modern bias construction for exceptional comfort and stability, with loaded bike also
  • Special on – off knob design for more grip and traction on all surfaces and in all weather conditions

actualythe MT60 RS comes in an 18 inch. I think its a fairly soft compound though.

MT 60 RS CORSA

  • Radial tyre designed for super-moto and recreation bikes, with ensured light handling
  • Optimized pattern design for street use also on wet
  • More grip with cornering pleasure provided by the Corsa super-moto compound

On the 640 Michelin desert rear grips better off road than the 908 rear, and last very well, even on the road. All bets ar off on wether it would last on the SE, but I think it would be about the same as the 908rr

Ok so not organised enough for pics... (Hmmm, small soft bag on chrissy present list...)

But, first organised adventure ride... 2nd time out on 'real' dirt... . Who'd buy a sport bike?

Excellent day's riding... mental note, when rjf says 'some single track but it'll be ok... apart from one hill' he really means it! It actually wasn't me, the big girl got a bit tired and wanted a little lie down and thanks all for ensuring that pics were taken before assistance was offered

The annoying part it that I got down the difficult bit - not stylishly - but down and then kind of relaxed at the bottom and over she went. No damage, slight scuff on the crash bar and it now sits a little closer the the bodywork than it did before (hmmm, anyone rebend these?)

How bonox was punting along the big GS I'll never know - the 990 was scary enough.

Now, when's the next one and can we have it on a weekend please?

Great day.

I'll have to see when I have the next weekend off. There might be a weekday one from the 1st -11th of Dec as Legglessone wanted to go for a ride once he gets moved over to Sydney
