Saw my first SXV & RXV ...
Right here in little 'ole New Braunfels texas is a new Aprilia dealer and Race shop [AF1]. So wandering through... there they are, both SXV and RXV in both 450 and 550 powerplants. Sweet-lookin machines. I plan to go back for a test ride on the SXV 450. They're not cheap, but if you consider the KTM's to be 'good deals' then these are priced right. They're quoting [list]
of about 8499 at the top-end... down from there.
Could you dual-sport these? Sure... all four models are DOT-ready. Here they can tag right out the door. I wouldn't know about lighting and accessorizing, though. The sales guy was pretty knowledgeable and said he did not think the SXV450, for one, had the electric power to handle anything more than what its got, stock. So, where would one get stator upgrades etc? He also admitted that the tanks are too small. they're for a racetrack... a hair over 2 gallons u.s.
interesting review at http://www.motorcycledaily.com/10february06_sxvrxv.htm
He basically concludes the 450 is the better Enduro version, and the 550 the better SM, and his favorite of the 4.
Will be interesting to see if these depreciate on the USA market like other Aprilias. I would not mind picking up an SXV 550 at, say, Wee-strom price? less than 300 lbs and 70bhp? Torque-wheelie without effort.....
p.s. an add.... there ARE growing pains with these.
