Just one question. Is there a removable timing gear on the crank or are there teeth on the crank? From looking at the microfiche I can't tell for sure.

Gotcha Buzz.
Clayman, I didn't notice if it was part of the crank or not, I didn't get down into the bottom end. There were no metal shavings so I just did the top end and put it back together. Runs better than before. I do have a parts engine I may well be tearing apart for parting out purposes, Ill let you know when I get to it.

Outta this party
Hey crew, sounds like you're all having swell times with your XT's... I was trying to keep a list of good mods for a while that might end up in a particular place, but my signature hasn't had any reason to get any XT action since mine was stolen last year... so I'm going to post the few I had here, and move on to the other bikes that are still in my possession.
Idle Screw Z1 Exhaust Valve adjustment 16t sprocket Choke-on-carb Jets/Air Filter barnone Turnsignal mod Best of everything to all.

There are some people that have the Big Gun exhaust ( I'm not one of them). I have a Cobra exhaust, but they no longer sell them. You might be able to find a used one. For larger pegs, go on e-Bay and do a search for XT225 larger pegs. They will be sold buy devilman936 or something like that. They are an excellent peg and well built....

Budget for XT225
I am now officially in the market for an XT225.
I went and checked out the 250 last week and it was great. Unfortunately I current have 2 mortgages so don't want to finance something else. I am looking to pick up a used 225 in the Chicago area (willing to travel a little to pick it up) I want it to have semi-low miles, run well and look decent. I was thinking budgeting $2500 should get some something. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. |
