I have a 2005 XT225 Cdn model. It came with a 120 main jet. I went to a 130. Much better for me. Sea level to about 5000 feet. I did open up the airbox and muffler. Shim under the needle and three turns out on the idle screw. Its the way it should have been from the factory.

I have stayed completely stock. I haven't had the carb off because I do not want to screw it up, nor have I adjusted it. The original owner told me the same thing; he hadn't touched it! Not tinkering with it is hard for me I am going from a 1996 Yamaha service manual, note that model 4BE3 is the canadian spec.

I find that the engine is screaming and I'm only doing 60mph.
Can someone please let me know what the stock sprocket numbers are so I can determine if my bike is stock or modified? cheers |

Tom S, shims are .5mm or just a hair under .02”, (0.01968498”), thick.
This from the ANSI site: American National Standard ( ANSI) Spenard (SBS) has a pretty good assortment in their bins. They don't have the impressive orange vests but are worth a try. I didn't measure mine, but since they take 6202 bearings, it has to be 15mm since that is the i.d. of the bearings.

PNW wrote: A small diameter hose that runs from a small plastic elbow from the left side of the carb near where the fuel hose attaches to the carb broke off with the tiny plastic nipple in the hose, it must have been very brittle as I didn’t realize that I even bumped it at all. The parts diagram in the manual doesn’t list the function of this hose, maybe a vent? I doubt if the plastic elbow fitting is replaceable, it isn’t listed in the parts diagram. Anyone have any ideas what to do with it?
I believe that to be the overflow hose. Does it come from float bowl area? Travis28715 screwed with this post 12-31-2012 at 09:45 AM |
