I just installed the immix racing rack. It is very sturdy and took about 10 minutes to install. I have an old sissy bar bag that I attached to it by putting the three Velcro straps though each of the slots in the side of the rack. I'll have to get some pics. It isn't pretty but should be functional.

I haven't done it personally, but I've taken the tank off my bike, which is a Clarke. Here's what I do know:

It appears that there is some foam wire tied around the frame where the tank rests on. Mine has a bracket with 3 bolts that go into the tank, which then connects with the frame at it's mount with 1 bolt, with the rubber there.

Well, 400 miles around and across PA, and the XT held up awesome. Didn't seem to mind 65-70 mph at all, though I tried to keep it at 65 when I could. On flat ground, I can reach an indicated 80, and it doesn't seem too far off, as 70 is accurate to the spedometer on my brother's Ninja.

It also happened to snow for about 150 miles of the trip. Was kind of ridiculous, but but hey ... it always snows in the Laurel Highlands.

I look forward to catching up with this thread!

I would question your brother’s Ninja speedo.
Someone had posted that he got to an indicated 82 MPH on his XT225.
Part of my reply ....
GPS speeds vs what the XT speedo read. Been a while but I seem to recall that the XT225 speedo indicated 60 mph was really 55 on the GPS. So 55/60 = 0.9167. Going by that 81.9 = 75.075 mph.
Also pretty sure that a speedo indicated 50 mph was really 45 MPH. A flat 90% of indicated. An average of the two percentages = 0.9083.
So 81.9 would then be 74.3 MPH.
I guess we could say that at an indicated ~82 mph that we are really doing 74-75 mph.

Mines off about 4mph using my GPS, 60 is 56. I don't know what the bigger than stock tire does, it's a 460X18.

Your XT225 speedo runs off the 21" front wheel.

Thanks Tuna. I do recommend checking it out. I mean, it's not like we're all riding XT225's because we like spending extra cash! (XT225, the poor man's KLR)

At 230# vs. 365#, I prefer to think of it as the old man's KLR........ (doesn't make any difference if you don't drop them )

XT225.com covers the 250 as well.
