ohlies
Shock is a little corroded but so is most of the bike's general surfaces, will take some hours getting here aprkly.
I'll be needing a right side switch pod, the owner crashed it and slammed the right bar into the tank (no dents!) and busted of the little switch in the bottom, don't know what it's for... I'll need some OEM crash bars. Can one but the tank and side panel stickers. scratched where the bars hit the tank. Barbacks, I'll need a set of those for the Renthals probably. Just nick nacks...and here's the kicker...I thought it was a real derelict...the thing started right up after a few revs...doesn't even need a battery! Turns out the friend who's shop I got it from at one time had installed a spunkier cam in the bike...I couldn't believe my good fortune when he started it and it revved up real strong...the thing sounds tits! Then he started pulling stuff out of the back of the shop that went with the bike...a set of street wheels that appera to be of a K bike, evidently bolt right up with a spacer...a Supertrapp exhaust (which I doubt I'll use), a set of bags, and a new windshield. sparkplugs...yadda yadda.. The GS gods are smilin' down on me...now where's that VIN ...gotta see if it really is a PD...

uno mas
yep, black fenders and stuff make me suspicious, but I'll find out...evidently this bike has a history in Baja, the owner lived there for a while...had extra valve covers bolted to the rear rack even...
Only thing I have to do is fix a leaking oil color fitting and I can take it for a spin... Rapid Dog screwed with this post 12-03-2010 at 07:59 AM |

If you do opt for the high fender, Acerbis makes one with the vent, which you'll need, for $ 90. The oil cooler conversion kit runs $ 175. And since it popped right over, you are WAY ahead of the curve on this bike. From you pics, does the Supertrapp have a y pipe that would allow you to use that along with the stock exhaust can ?

I have a right side switch I'll sell you for 1/2 the new rate, and I'll pay the shipping. Make sure to have your Ohlins rebuilt... if it has been sitting and oxidizing alot 9esp the shaft), using it culd possibly cause issues, and these suckers are spendy to rebuild when worn out.

yep
I'll take that switcheroo for sure.
The part that's mushed is the little switch that's between the sart button and the turn signal (right side)...nmaybe the horn? Anyhow I know you have to replace the whole unit. The crash bars I'll let go of too....not sure who makes them but they appear to be J.C. Whitney in quality. Just pay for shipping and make a donation to my GS fund ;)... I'll hold on to that fender at leastr for a while. THe high fender I'd like to get. Not sure how it mounts or if there will be a clearance issue with the oil cooler location, that and the horn resides up there too byt could be relocated. Insight on the fender dealie appreciado... The driveline appears solid. Chink in the armor appeasr to be the front end is tweaked a good 3-5 degrees. I'm going to looosen all the pinch bolts and try and bounce it around to see if it pops back in place....if not I may be in the market for a set of forks... |

PM me if you want my spare right side switch, it is held in by one or two screws, very easy to remove.
If your forks are bent, the hot ticket is "forking be Frank", he sells OEM replacement legs for much less than stock. Also, I would suggest buying a manual and immediately doing a spine lube. Instruction for this can be found at www.ibmwr.org in the r-bike tech section. SL QUOTE=Rapid Dog]I'll take that switcheroo for sure.
