Lower AL ride spot

This is where I ride/practice every chance I get. It's about 10 min. from my house. I like that everytime it rains, it changes the rough spots.
It's in a place called Eight-Mile.[IMG][/IMG]

The pic don't really show how difficult some of these areas can get[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG]The reason I wanted to post these is because the area is getting smaller and smaller due to people building stuff. I found out yesterday that they plan to build a Nascar racetrack just down the street. The google pic is old, and it's already alot smaller because of new roads & houses.

Cool place

Im lived in Huntsville, North-Alabama, as a kid. I do not get up there very often but every place I roamed on my '77 Honda MR175 is now houses and roads. In S/E we had miles of power line trails etc..
Kinda makes me sad come to think about.
I'm heading to the garage to fire up the LC-4e, I need to go out and ride before all of my local places are gone too.

Thumb Hey robklx400 and Alabama Riding

Did you make it to the dixie dual sport ride @ Mt. Cheaha?
This state park in central Alabama was a great place for a dual sport ride.
Your KLX400 would be perfect. Alot of challanging terrian and it was held @ the highest point in Alabama. If you didnt go, plan on Oct-07 if you can, you will not be disapppointed. Dixie Dual Sport leader "Swampy" already has some route changes planned. It was my 2nd year attending and well worth the 10 hour drive from Tampa.

Hey Tony, I still want to ride/meet with your group sometime. Hope your wife is O.K. I've been real busy @ work 6 days a week here lately. Just let me know if you'all want to ride some Sunday.
I couldn't make the Cheaha event, because I just returned from the MS,AR,OK Trans. Am. Trail Mud Bath. And my very understanding Wife wasn't "That" understanding. Here she is on her KLX250S[IMG][/IMG]
JWH, I'm in Mobile about 30mins south west of Brewton.

Is this the same spot that I was reading about that was right near the Interstate? I might be picking up a KDX in AL this weekend and this looks like a good place to ride the bike if I buy it and get some riding in b4 dark.

Thanks!

The other spot I was talking about was one someone posted about on KDXrider.net The sites down so I can't compare to see if they're the same spot or not. Hopefully if I get the bike I make it there before dark

These were the directions I got to another riding spot. Ever been there?

Quote:
You'll be traveling west on 10 from east Alabama to Lousiana
Get off at exit 13, Mobile Greyhound Park, about 8 miles after where 65 splits off
At the top of the ramp turn left back over the highway and go to the next light (Nan Gray Davis Rd.)
Turn right on Nan Gray and go about 3/4 of a mile and then right on Barnes Rd.
Follow Barnes Rd. to the end, 8/10 of a mile and park.

The trail head is into the woods at the end a couple of hundred feet. Follow the dirt rd. in and keep a sharp eye out on your left.
If I've got enough Daylight I'll probably hit up your spot as I've seen pics but if I'm short on Daylight I'll probably hit this other place as it's closer to the Hwy.

I'm greatful you shared your riding spot

I hate that you are losing your riding area due to development. That is the norm everywhere and getting worse with the Forestry service closing more and more lands.

This is where you are talking about http://www.irvingtonmotorsportspark.com/
Yes, I've been there alot, but I just ride in the woods (alot of tight single trac with deep sand. There's ways to get into the woods without paying $15. Well, if you have a Dual Sport.
