The LC8 bash plates now comes with three mounting points if you need them.

The 950 SE mounts to the oil tank , motor & rear frame

And the Adv. also picks up the bottom engine mount if you want it.

Cheers Matt

What about heat retention? Are engine temps higher than with stock plate? Anybody cut holes in Matt's plates to let air through?
I put a few holes in mine, it was the only way to control heat for me. Constant speeds, no problem, but tight trails or even worse, slow climbs, and my bike was cooking. Once I put a few strategically placed holes in it, no worries, I suspect the 640 just needed some airflow at lower speeds past the cases to remove excess heat. I can't vouch for others though, that was my own specific fix.
I have field tested the bashplate and it works, I still have a right foot with no broken bones.

That's a GREAT looking SE skidplate, and the best mounting set-up I've seen short of a full-blown Powercell-type conversion!

I was just looking at that thread and its a good move relocating the oil tank as its in a stupid place down the front waiting to get ripped off.

Hi matt
I just picked a rock had rally bash plate for my 640 off one of the aussie inmates.
What a brilliant peice of kit.

Just wondering if you have considered another method of securing the lids I will probably change them to wings nuts for ease of access. seems a bit odd to me that you need to carry an 8mm to get into your tools in the tool box.

Perhaps some zeuss fasterners would work as well.

I know it comprimise security but it would be much easier.
