(edit) .. Thumper .. let it go man .. it's already a train wreck ..

.. just a humble suggestion .. next time try congratulating someone for doing something challenging and unique rather than blasting them with "well-intended concern" and some name calling ..

.. or, you might as well log onto a parasailing sites and exhaust your energy there .. or hit up the parachute enthusiasts .. bungie jumpers .. etc., .. the list is endless ..

I respect anyone who would take on those mountains under there own steam. I applaud your sense of achievement and adventure Sir.

Damn... my "Lighten up, Francis" Stripes vid clip got nuked along with the original flame.

I concur. Living and riding in the Colorado mountains has taught me a lot of respect for cyclists doing passes on pedal power I couldn't hope to do. It's no hardship to keep an eye out for our 2 wheeled brethren as we come around on their left. I've had WAY more problems up on the Colorado mountain and canyon roads with weekend warrior cagers who drive like they're the only people on the road, fail to yield right of way, or simply don't see motorcycles or bikes.

Hail to the 2 wheeler... no matter HOW it's powered.

In 2004, the Federal Highway Administration was testing a new typeface, Clearview, designed to have improved readability at night with headlight illumination. One test sign was placed at Baltimore, Maryland the eastern terminus of Interstate 70 that listed Cove Fort as a control city with a distance of 2,200 miles (3,500 km). One employee stated with the number of queries the department received about Cove Fort, the test was a success. The sign prompted a series of stories about Cove Fort to be published in the Baltimore area. Since that time there has been a small effort by people in both states to lobby the Utah Department of Transportation to reciprocate by placing a sign at Cove Fort listing the distance to Baltimore.

A mere 1200 km to Murmansk. That's only about three times across my home country.

(taken just outside St. Petersburg, Russia)
