Uno Grande story.....

continued....

So we were into Wyoming and heading east....

and the dark clouds threatened rain. We stopped to put on the rain gear.

We stopped for gasoline before going over the Buffallo mountains, and waited out a small rain and had a coffee. Another rider pulled up, and he joined us for the ride over the mountain....Hwy 16 at Ten Sleep

Once over the pass, the sky cleared up ....

We rolled into Buffallo Wy and thats where we had abandoned the car several weeks ago. I had left some stuff in the car. Some of it was forgotten, some was just too much to carry with us. I returned to the scrapyard and asked the guy if I could go get a few things. Some cargo straps that were missing never did show up, but a half jar of peanut butter, and a good pair of running shoes......

Soon we got to Devils Tower......

If you look closely, you can see the climbers going up the side of the tower.....

Well maybe you can't. But there were some....

We decided to camp at the tower campground. It was getting a lot colder not like the temps we enjoyed down south.....

Sheepskin seatcover....makes the long days in the saddle so much better....

Isabel and the kids were in Tbay all weekend for a figure skating competition.
they say hardly any snow there.
Streets are still snow covered here.
Hopefully no more storms and riding starts early.

Icebreaker is marked on the calendar

This one is in my neck of the woods. Brings back fond memories of exiting a choking wall of dust while tapped out in 5th on my CR500 and having maybe a second to scootch over to one side as I knew there were a few missing ties near the west end. Quad riders had nailed some wood along the sides to support their machines but had left a gapping hole down the middle.

Good times. If you ever come back up here you have to let me know.

Hey Ron
I was in a moose meadow about 25 km east of Opap yesterday getting this going. A guy could have rode to Big Trout this week and not frozen!

Uno Grande story....

The ride continues...onward to Sturgis. We stopped long enough to buy a Sturgis sticker, and a few coffees. Some pics, its a lot different during Rally Week....

A coffee break...

and it was time to roll....

It was a long ride across the State heading east....and the 1000cc motor really shines on these long hauls. We basically took the main road to cross the plains quicker.

We looked in the free campsite book, and went to a location that was now posted"no overnight camping". My book is getting old, so some of it is outdated. We forged onward and happened upon a nice site near the Minnesota State line...

The next morning we rolled on up towards the Twin Cities...

We stopped at the huge motorcycle scrapyard on 169. As soon as I got off the bike, I was talking to this guy, he did some iron butt rides and was telling me all about how far he went and how many hours and miles he did. His bike was all set up for the long haul. He kept telling me about it and he had the licence plate and everything too. I can appreciate a good long run, but he was almost wanting me to pat him on the back for it or something. I told him that we do some good rides too.

This place has 10,000 bikes in various condition, and they have a big building off to the side where the good stuff is kept. Its got some cool bikes on display, and I guess some for sale too maybe...

The area out back with the parts bikes.....its huge! This is just a small area in the photo.

After the stop at the scrapyard, it was time to head into the city and check out the bike shops there...

We checked out a few other shops, then rode over to Redwing and stopped at the big casino....its one of my favorite places to camp out.

Theres an excellent buffet style dinner, and the security gaurds watch out for our stuff at the campgrounds.

The next day we went back into Mnpls/St Paul, and checked out the caves, near Taco Town.

Nearby was the Mexican part of town "taco town" where a fine meal was had for lunch...

Pick out the coolest bike in the line....at Dennis Kirk, on the way back north.

We had 1 more night in the tent before getting to Duluth, and from there it was an easy ride back into Canada.

Well, thats pretty well it for the Uno Grande story,.....for now. Its been a great adventure.
